Thinking about something..

Then why are they both existing (NPC Joe and NPC Jonas), at the same time? They just shouldn't have added Joe, that NPC has no place in there.

Man, they should've done something good with this, there's piles of potential everywhere.

IsaacGS Wrote:We were talking about it in my buddy chat and here's what we came to:
Jonas was married multiple times; this was a fact of the old story. Ludmilla was not Sophilia's mother, but simply Jonas's current wife. Thus, maybe Olivia and Sophilia were only half-sisters? They had different mothers.
So, who's Joe then? Well, let's look at his name, versus her father's name: Joe and Jonas. Joe could easily be a shortened form of Jonas, right? Perhaps, then, Joe is how Olivia remembered Jonas; in that case, Joe is simply a fragment of Olivia's memories. The KMS version of the mansion (parts of which were integrated in via 2008's event) uses the Masked Gentleman as a man who can conjure lost memories to life. That could be what's going on now.

The other option is that Joe would be a stepfather who married Olivia's real mother.

the first option makes more sense. i mean, she was abandoned and died of starvation apparently. of course she would see him as being a cold heartless bastard, and even moreso if he was her step father.

DualReaver Wrote:I was kinda dissappointed reading this now. I kinda thought HH II would have a decent storyline, but this makes me sad. I wasn't here for the first release, and the second one seemed lame to me. I read about the 1st one and was amazed an sad that I had missed it. Now they release this next one and tell us that everything I read in that old thing was wrong.

Hell, half the stuff doesn't even make sense, such as why you need to bring tombstones to Jonas to prove you're serious (which was insanely hard by the way, since the JQ to reach Jonas is now covered in auto-aggro monsters with magic attacks). The whole key thing was decent, but the OCD thing was pathetic. Why would you care about a tidy room if YOUR ABOUT TO DIE BY EVIL TOYS? Then Jonas was really rather evil, and I thought that maybe, just maybe, his ghost had somehow been corrupted by the evil in the house, maybe like the evil of the toys began to reverse corrupt him. Then it just moves it on to how the butler will let you into do him a favor. I thought that perhaps it had been something like "Olivia is possessed by evil, so you need to defeat her to rescue her." But no, it has to be some crap like "Jonas was a horrible father, so she died." The chair I can't even explain, but I'll get it anyway because I'm a damn chair whore.

you DO know you dont have to do that JQ, right? that theres an EASIER way through the library?

ya know, ive seen it said a few times, but, who is joe? ive only seen olivia, the maid (Whats her relevance even?), the butler, the stepmother, jonas, and sophilia. then theres that agent guy, but he doesnt matter, he's just hungry for smores.

This is Joe. Olivia from outside the Mansion says he's her father.

You know what? Gimme a second, I'll try and draw out what I understood from this storyline.

I've done it quite a lot, helping friends with the chairs before mine. But those dolls get decimated quickly.

Energy Orb is being great, I need to get more levels so that it can zoom by more enemies. Right now, it just bounces through four.

I had to hold on my laugh so bad since I'm reading this during work. Cool

Anyway, I find the story very very poorly-written as well. It certainly makes no sense between each sub-quests, but I have to say, the chair is pretty awesome.

Anyone have a link to a site where they explain this storyline? I'm extremely intrigued now..

Once I learned about the chair's bit of the story, I interpretted that Olivia considered Joe her father after facing no attention or love from Jonas. It was due to this that Olivia died though, but she must've found Joe before her death. How much that happened cannot be understood.

But they seem like they're alive right now, so are memories of the Haunted House overlapping in this scenario? The ghost is the boss Olivia, while the NPC is the ghost of another form, potentially before she... AGH I DON'T KNOW. Stupid time paradoxes and trying to make sense of this storyline. The only part of the story that doesn't make sense that I've made made sense to me has to do with Joe, I still don't get Jonas' role and the random OCD and tombstone collecting parts.

Yesterday I was typing up the story of Haunted House 2 then gave up due to lack of effort. It sort of made sense, but I had to improvise on a few parts. Goggleemoticon

wait, IVE GOT IT!
listen to this while reading it

Olivia was a runaway because jonas' new wife was abusive, and olivia saw her as a terrible mother and got out while she had a chance. She looks a few years older than sophilia, so perhaps sophilia was a baby when she ran away.

Olivia wanders around, carrying only with her the doll that her father had made for her. she gets lost and finds a guy named Joe, who sees her in her terrible physical state and offers to take her in. clearly she hasnt eaten in days/weeks, and has gotten a severe fever from this, as well as being out in the wherever for however long she was out there. Joe tried his hardest to take care of her, but, since she wasnt his own child his best was half-assed at best. she still saw his kindness and good actions to her and decided to take him on in her heart as her surrogate father.

however, she was still sick and heartbroken because of jonas, and her condition is deteriorating with every passing day. eventually, she dies, clutching the doll that her father made for her to her chest. Joe, before hand, while trying to take care of her, managed to discover she was Jonas Pendergasts daughter, and decided to take her there, but, since she was dead now, his plans were shot. so, instead he goes himself to the manor to see it empty. he goes in, sees the ghosts, and gets terrified to such an extent that he faints inside. what happens then is unknown, but i can assume something along the lines of him becoming lost when he wakes up due to the layout of the various rooms and dying/being killed by the demons inside.

the tombstones, how would they come into play, though? perhaps Jonas, as a spirit, heard from Joe of his daughters situation when joe, still alive, came into the manor, and after sensing the presence of his eldest daughter, full of contempt for him. Jonas in his fatherly love, being unable to help his daughter with the toys he made to comfort sophilia, opts instead to try and create a proper tombstone and grave for his eldest daughter, but loses the various fragments of the tombstone because of the many multitudes of dolls and toys that are being churrned out by his demented machine.

The spirit of the butler, still caring for the manor, senses the spirit of the eldest daughter returning to the manor, and upon seeing that her father is dead and seeing her rage becoming focused on the outside world, decides to trap her spirit inside of a mirror inside a sealed off section of the manor, perhaps olivia's old room even? when she is defeated, the ghost becomes docile and accepts that her father died, and after seeing that jonas attempted to help her in death by creating the tombstones, accepts her fate and finds peace in death. her spirit then falls to pieces, but the spirit that resided in the doll she always carried with her in turn passes into a nearby object, a rocking chair that perhaps her real mother used to use to feed her when olivia was still a baby and was given the doll for companionship. the doll, then, changes and turns the chair into its own image of olivia, and attaches itself to the chair so that it will never be apart from olivia ever again, in hopes to always comfort her, even after she finds peace.

See, was that so hard to explain with quests, Nexon?

That's a pretty damn good story you got there. Go post it at the Nexon forums, maybe they'll learn a thing or two.

That was a pretty nice story, and I'd have been A LOT more satisfied if they wrote that. But noo. Senseless storyline. Whee.

Step 1) Have clue.
Step 2) Have talent.
Step 3) Consider Researching Your Subject
Step 4) Fail Epically because you're Nexon and skipped 1,2 & 3.

Even though I am interested in the lore and legend of Maple, I just gotta say you are taking this waaaaay more serious than it deserves. It's just an event that will go away in a few weeks. Carry the original haunted house event with you in your nostalgic hearts and take the new one for what it is. A shame they reused Jonas for it since that implies a connection to the first one, but other than that it's a far better event that we usually have and the new monsters are nicely designed. If you compare everything connected to Gaga and Cassandra for example, the new haunted house event is a bloody masterpiece.
