Just how legit is using a controller to play MS?

Good work, but you're forgetting one thing. This thread is about why Botters/ACers think they're legit. Botting/ACing is considered amongst the community a crime on the level of hacking, so why don't people care enough to do something about it?

Wreckonized Wrote:you are so wrong. auto potting was a hack. using one button to do multiple things was a hack.pets looting the drops is like having a mini vaccer getting all the drops which was a hack known as auto loot. these features were added in the game to make it even. so the so call "legits" wont be at a disadvantage when it comes to training and lvling more so they can spend more nx.

Nexon's philosophy of making money and keeping their "legit" customers happy is "IF YOU CANT BEAT THEM JOIN THEM".

Oh? Where's Nexon's statement that they said exactly this?

Do you really think Nexon is going to put out a statement that says "If you can't beat the hackers then join them?".

Nexon didn't come out with macros and pets to even out legit people and hackers. They were just made to make things easier for everyone; to make the game more enjoyable and less work. That's why we have macros, 2x card, auto hp/mp, and pet loots. Nexon isn't trying to get us as close to hacking as possible; they're trying to make the game more fun than work.

And no, any kind of botting is against the rules, but that doesn't stop HS mules now does it? Using a controller to get FM spots is no different than using a HS mule. Trying to fight against people who do this is a losing battle. You don't really need a thread to convince everyone that botting is against the ToS because everyone already knows it is. It's whether they choose to obey the rules or not.

You're confusing being illegit and hacking. Would you call someone who puts something heavy on their HS button a hacker? If putting something heavy on a button is considered hacking; then wow, hacking is way easier than I thought it would be. FM botters are not hackers, but they are people who break the ToS. If you really knew how to do it; then you'd see it's just taking a HS mule to the next level.

they made the mesos bags in cash shop in an attempt to fend of the mesos farmers. just another example of "if you cant beat them, join them"

Yes, I'm against HS mules too. Any form of action where you're not playing your character but you're still benefitting from it is "hacking" in my book. Controllers set to bot, AC programs, HS mules etc. All the same to me, and many others would agree.

This right here is the stupidest statement I've ever read. Stealing FM spots from innocent people who just want to vend because you're too friggin' lazy or egotistical that you can never settle for a spot outside FM 1 CH 1 is the lowest thing you can do, and is on an entirely different level to HS muling.

But seeing your guild is set to FMKing, it would be very, VERY hard to wake you up from your dream world.

I believe eFM is the dominate FM botters now. For Scania.

Bera I believe was FMChang or something

Broa Neoshop/xNeo (Lol@them using packet editors to get spots)

Windia/Bellocant/Marida I don't care

Kradia Capitalism I think (<-- verfiy)

Yellonde Same as Kradia. I think again.

(Just came into the debate)
Well, theoretically you technically leveled up the priest, so it's your own work you're benefitting from.

However, bots, AC, and other stuff are illegal. HS/HB/SE mules, unless they're bots or something is pushing the button, are allowed.

I'm talking about the method used to do each of them. Using a HS mule is the same as getting a FM spot in terms of how to do it. Neither one if a "botting program", they're both putting something over your button to keep it held down. Like I said before, "If you really knew how to do it; then you'd see it's just taking a HS mule to the next level."

Good for you if you hate anyone who takes the easy way to play the game, and so what if people like taking the easy way out. A game is a game; don't let your fun get spoiled because someone else is having fun.

It's more a case of Nexon selling features that are "free" in pay-to-play games. Not every game makes you pay $2 to set up a shop and $0.50 to look for an item.

Lots of games feature macro systems too... Wizet didn't implement everything at the start, and what was missing got hacked in before they could get on it because it's often pretty useful. I'm not talking about botting, but things like fast looting or auto potting, where they make the game more playable if you lag.

If people have fun by being afk maybe they shouldn't log on the game in the first place. They're making it trashier for every legitimate player.

Lol, botting a store spot is a lot more complicated then just "holding a button down." Yes it is botting no matter how you try to justify it. You're not around to manually press the store button once a spot becomes available, your controller is doing it for you. How hard is it to understand?

I'm going to say this for a 3rd time

"If you really knew how to do it; then you'd see it's just taking a HS mule to the next level."

It is no harder than putting something over a button just like a HS mule. The difference between them is that you use a rubber band on a controller instead of a heavy book.

And I'm going to say THIS for the third time.

What gives you the right to steal someone's spot? You can't compare it to HS muling because it doesn't really hurt anyone. FM monopoly and just being an out right douche, however DO hurt the game.

I didn't say stealing a FM spot doesn't hurt anyone. Botting in any sense is against the ToS. I said that in my first post. The METHOD to use a HS mule and take a FM spot are both the same though.

Where did someone say botting was legit? I saw a lot of posts saying botting isn't hacking; which it isnt.

Opeth Wrote:Yes, I'm against HS mules too. Any form of action where you're not playing your character but you're still benefitting from it is "hacking" in my book.

They both might be "hacking in your book" but they're not the same in Nexon's book (ToS)

These two rules happened to be conveniently right next to each other in the ToS. Botting and Hacking are two different things. Both are against the terms of service, but the latter just happens to be the more severe of the two.

Quote:-Use tools which hack or alter the Software, Cash Items or the Service or that allow you to connect to the Software's private binary interface or utilize user or other interfaces other than those provided by us to you;
-Engage in using macros (i.e., "macroing"), auto-looting or robot play (i.e., "botting") or any other behavior that allows you (or any character you are controlling) to automatically function or effect any action in a game with or without your presence;

Conclusion- Botting and Hacking are both against the ToS. Both of them are not the same thing, and hacking comes with a much harsher punishment. Everyone knows botting is illegit, but people do it anyway in the form of taking FM spots and using HS mules. But Botting IS NOT hacking.

Yeah, having your character perform actions that benefit you while you're AFK = botting. We've established this.

Quote:Where did someone say botting was legit? I saw a lot of posts saying botting isn't hacking; which it isnt.
You know where. I don't want to drag up the thread, but two people got banned for admitting to botting FM spots.

So why do FM guilds continue to bot FM spots? It's against the ToS you agree, correct? So are you admitting your whole FM guild and other FM guilds should be banned for using "controller options" to take over the market?

People bot FM spots for the same reason people bot HS mules. It's to benefit them in game. If Nexon decides to ban everyone who uses a HS mule and who takes FM spots then so be it.

Just because rules are rules doesn't mean every person is going to follow them. If people have to pay the consequences for breaking the rules then they do. Oh well

Well then, that's all I wanted to know. I appreciate your honesty, however having guilds dedicated to doing such things is quite disgusting and definitely needs to be taken care of.

A simple solution that has been brought up before is having a limited amount of times one can fail to open a store before disonnecting. Say, five or ten tries. I suppose that's fair enough. I'd say it's a far off dream to have Nexon actually listen though.

I'd prefer if it costs 10k mesos every time that "You are unable to set up a shop here because someone is already in the spot" popped up, and it wouldn't let you set up a shop with under 10000 mesos in your inventory. For someone hitting several thousand times in the same spot, it would add up and they would lose all benefit of afking over spots.

Opeth Wrote:You're missing the point. Tons of people bot and think they're legit. I want to read their logic and reasoning for this.

I can explain a few things about a controller that give the player the upper hand:
Comfort, players can last longer on a controller
Complex Macros, with the use of the profile programs most tasks can be

simplified to a button
Better control.

The legit or not argument is the bane of many idiots that play this game. People cheat in life all the time. Talking about it will get you no where and you have no power at all in the situation so why waste your breath?

Logic and reasoning, I'll throw you a bone. Anyone who can exploit a loophole with little to no consequence will. Anyone that has a chance to have an advantage will take that opportunity. Anyone who can have the same option with a lower cost will. Out of the masses the majority will do these. There is no point in frustrating yourself with a question you have already answered.

You might as well say that having an advantage over a player is illegit. That can be argued but won't go far. Either way stop wasting your time with such a stupid topic; the only possible benefit you can get out of this would be reflection some time later but please stop embarrassing yourself.

*Rolls eyes.* I said controllers are fine. Using them to bot your spots is not. Is it so wrong to want Nexon to fix this gaping hole so our Free Market could perhaps stabalize? Free Market monopoly is cancerous and really wrecks a lot of things for a lot of people. Defending something like this only gives off the vibe that you're one of those people that exploit those "loopholes."

Botting = same in all cases.

HS mules help arch mages/noobs leechers (me)/newtie parties/random people level up faster. More noobs come into a higher status (me).

Botting FM spots = Can cause an economic depression in Scania and effect the econmy greatly. I can't even get a decent attack pink adventure cape for 90 mil anymore. 3 attack 6 dex = 25million when I was level 65. Now it's like 120million or so.

Botting FM spots has more of an impact on the game itself, but theroetically it's the same as HS botting. Take a rubber band, set the keys, use the rubber band to hold down the keys, place the box, text etc.

If I may add, doesn't JMS have a function to integrate controllers into gameplay?

EDIT : It really depends on how you use it, legit people don't use it as an AC. >__>
