Brave Slash and Axes

One thing I've noticed is that Brave Slash follows a Slash/Slash/Stab animation.

Now if this animation was accurate, could this possibly put Axe Heroes ahead of 2h Sword (and possibly 1h Sword) Heroes in overall damage output?

Typically 2h Axes are 94% the strength of 2h Swords.

Axes follow a 3:2 Slash/Stab ratio correct?

Now assuming 2/3 attacks out of Brave Slash are Slashes this puts it out at 66% Slash/Stab ratio.

66% is 1.1 of 60%.

That's 10% overall extra damage dealt with Axes over old damage calculations.

Perhaps it's time to begin stocking up on 50% Axe scrolls.


It would help immensely if someone with a Hero in KMST could post a screenshot (or 2) of a Brave Slash on a Snail equipped with any 2h Axe.

I think it's true. When I was playing on the Crusader in KMST, axe damage with Brandish seemed to be just as stable as sword damage.

Great to hear Axesaders are not borked any longer. Now if I can only find out if Paladins are in the same boat or not.

Yeah, but it's a damn shame that axes don't have the same weapon speed as swords, so swords still beat axes by a long shot.

Thanks for the news, I was not aware of this. However:

2H Axe: 1.27*(4 * STR + DEX) * (Weapon Attack / 100)
2H Sword: 1.29*(4 * STR + DEX) * (Weapon Attack / 100)

I suppose then, that Axes will again be left in the dust?

I highly doubt the 2-3 Attack extra that comes with Axes will compensate for a 1.575% loss in overall damage, not to mention that 1h Swords and Shields are still stronger then 2h Swords.

Axes are also typically slower. They should implement something like a 5% slash bonus or something. There's hardly any differences between the weapons except for aesthetics now.

If they really are taking our the damage difference with stabbing and slashing, I'd be very tempted to go get some good BWs for my Paladin and take advantage of the obscenely cheap BW scroll priced.

Not to mention the insanely high base att and speed of crushed skulls.

Speed? The Crushed Skull is slower than every one handed sword, and some of the 2 handed ones (being Normal 6).

I'm probably gonna be doing the opposite, picking up a 2h sword to take advantage of higher speed + atk + better damage formula. It's not like scroll prices mean anything, when the Reverse weapons all cost exactly the same, as do every other makerable weapon.

My mistake, I was under the impression Skulls were Fast (5).

It's too bad, because 50% one hand BW scrolls float for ~30mil in Scania.

Highest fast(5) 1h BWs are the Colorful Tube (lv.70, 85 atk), the Cosmic Scepter (lv. 70, 85 atk? Might be 84-86), and the Yellow duck tube (lv.100, 90 atk) which has the distinction of being the lowest w.atk level 100 weapon..
