Recent natural disasters

I think this is the first time that so many natural disaster has happened around the world in a very short period of time.
Jan 12: Haiti earthquake
Feb 27: Chile earthquake and Japan earthquake
Mar 1: France storm
Mar 4: Taiwan earthquake

There might be more that I haven't heard of, but isn't it weird that so many natural disasters have happened so fast?

Well I think that if the Earth's Crust moves so drastically in a short amount of time, it will affect the other plates around the world as well. I imagine that Utah will be hit sometime in the near future; we're due for a huge earthquake here. There have been a few, very very minor ones that cause no damage that occur, but pretty soon the big one has gotta let loose. Expected to be a 7.5+.

Just to inform you guys: The storm did not just hit France. It hit Portugal, Spain and Germany as well. I think it moves towards Denmark now, but I'm not entirely sure.

I don't consider it weird that so many natural disasters happen. It might just be coincidence, or it may be due to some sort of domino-effect from movement in the plate tectonics.

The Japan and Taiwan earthquakes are not that strong. Only 7.0 and 6.4. No wonder I never heard of it.

On the el nino topic, that's why we've been the united states of snow the past few months. Can't exclude that, although not a natural disaster, it's still extremely out of place.

Yes, South-Central Ontario has seen an unusally warm winter as well. There's been a few cold days but typically it was hovering around the freezing point which is extremely unusual. El nino rules... well... in Canada. Not so good elsewhere, clearly.

Anti-War message: If you believe that the universe is ruled by a balance between order and chaos, then I would hope you could look at all of these recent events and understand we have enough natural chaos in the world that the last thing we need is to waste trillions a year developing new methods of killing one another.

I tend to see it as the disasters are always there, its just that they've never gotten the coverage that they have now. As for the weather, it's always been like this. Its a shame that Vancouver had literally little to no snow because of it during the olympics though.

As for places due for an earthquake, they've been saying that Vancouver's 150 years overdue for a large earthquake. It still hasnt happened yet. Earthquakes can happen anytime, just like a volcano can blow anytime.

The entire fault line for western Americas and eastern Asia has been bombarded by earthquakes for the past several months.

Xynthia is a very rare storm. It's almost uncommon for a storm of that power to actually hit Europe.

2012 is right around the corner. This is just the build up for the huge climax known as the end of the world.
