I got an unregistered Oblivion Guardian familiar that boosts STR. I'm a Bucc, so that works for me.

WOO! Got the Permanent Mr. Alli. That'll save me loads of potions at Aswan, won't it?

It only boosts STR by like 3 for me. I expected more like 40+, and it doesn't stack with superior str boost potions anyway, so whatever.

IceCorp Wrote:I believe high leveled familiars also have more vitality, as Jr. Boogie dosen't last nearly as long as Mr. Alli.

Cere Wrote:I think that might just because higher-level familiars do more OHKOing, thus saving hits (thus saving vitality).

Actually both of you are wrong. The vitality decreases only when the familiar deals a hit. The only reason Jr. Boogie lasts so little is because it doesn't have an attack animation ,and attacks a LOT of times while a higher level familiar usually DOES have an animation, and it won't attack again until the animation ends.

So yeah, if you are a ranged character, attack from far enough, so the familiar can't get to attack, and you'll have an infinite familiar, basically.

Arrol Wrote:Hell-fucking-yes. I've always wanted a Permanent Hime card.

Funny, because I saved 3 of them in case this ever happened. Too bad I don't play anymore to take advantage of it.

Got myself a red wyvern last night, took me somewhere between 4 and 5 hours to get 1 card but I got it. I then went to get myself a Mr. Alli... took me somewhere between 4 and 5 minutes to get the first Mr. Alli card. I need to get at least 1 more.

I need more information about Monster Potential. I've been going around collecting 2 of every familiar instead of 3 because of all of the worry-warts in here but I have no idea WHY I'm not collecting 3.

Basically the cards can have potential bonuses, but only the cards used after that particular patch have the option. Register 3 before that and you cannot register another, missing out on the bonus options. This is of course only a problem on the ones you would actually use while training, bossing or farming.

Might be late for you guys but:

MissingLink Wrote:Is this correct?
If it is, and if we do get potentialable familiars later, now would actually be a very bad time to load familiar cards, because any you do load would be permanent but could never have potential. Unless there is some way to delete familiars.

Cere Wrote:There isn't any way to delete familiars, but if you keep them at one or two orbs, that gives you breathing room, no?

If they make familiars potentialable, though, I am going to... er, shake my head despairingly. Fear my despairing headshake, Nexon. Fear it.

For Monster Familiar Potential: Adding an orb if/when it's implemented will not magically give the Familiar Potential, sadly. Any Familiar in your book before the change is screwed, and can never get it. Ever.

Alloy Wrote:This reminds me. Are the drop rates back to low, or are they still x10 from JMS?

Probably are not back to normal, considering JMS switched to the increased drop rate some time ago for Familiar cards as well.

Not sure if you're implying this but: From what I understand even with Potential Familiar Cards do not lose their inherit bonus for being summoned. It's just no longer on the card's info. They still have the original buff (Like for example, Mutant Pigs still have Drop Bonuses), and also whatever the potential reveals to give.

Oh no, I am strictly speaking about the potential bonus, not the original card bonus.

Pineapple, it is worse than I thought then.

Is there a list of the familiar potential bonuses anywhere?

Edit: Answering my own question!

Oh okay. I wasn't sure when I read your post so I thought I'd clear that portion up in case anyone was confused...because the original effects disappear from the card so it's not obvious unfortunately.

CarrionCrow Wrote:Pineapple, it is worse than I thought then.

Yup...sorry to be the barer of bad news.

So basically: time to stop collecting and wait for something that may never come.

Nice.

Waiting on something like that would drive me crazy. I'm just going to assume that one of two things is going to happen:

1. GMS is going to decide that it's stupid to copy random things from JMS and is never going to add familiar potential to GMS
2. If GMS does get monster potential from JMS, KMS will get a decent version a few weeks later and GMS will get the fixed KMS version about 6 months down the line

Either way, I figure it's not worth waiting forever on good familiars just in case.
