We'll be performing a scheduled game update on May 10, 2012 for v.110 - Lucky 7th Mapleversary. The maintenance will last approximately twelve hours.

• All MapleStory game servers will be unavailable.
  
• Name changes and world transfers will not be processed.
  
• Billing system and website login will be unavailable from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM Pacific.

  • The "Cat Hoot" Cash hat is now correctly named "Cat Hood."

Why 12 hours? I don't see any actual work besides the usual shut down servers, place code, turn on server routine.
The billing maintenance is also probably done by a different team, so it's not like it would effect the Maple team.

Game doesn't need to be up if Billing is Down. You're not spending money, they don't need to keep it up unnecessarily.

Or you could just read the patch notes like everyone else did yesterday and have your concerns addressed first-hand.

Pretty sure it takes 12 hours for the American employees to draw pictures to the Korean employees to illustrate what needs to be done.

Eg. The most elaborate Pictionary game every played.
