Warning for future GS

If you really are the "Game Master" of a game, you should know what's possible and what's not. A gunslinger up there CAN reach the place legitly. That's enough to not ban him. "He could be a gunslinger hacker" Doesn't work, because the hacker could reach the place legitly too. Just check the class, then judge. Not hard.

Yet they didn't, the GM gave a perm ban , and even a temporary ban for a feature that is COMPLETELY INTENDED in the game is insane.

Since when was it intended that you should get up to that place? It's not a glitch either, but it wasn't intended.

No, but saying 'Oh look, nvm, he's a gunslinger/hermit. we wont ban him because he can do it with skills' is going to get you nowhere with banning hackers.

I'd think a company would want competent employees who know how the game works, but what do ya know?

GMs = Humans. Humans make mistakes

I'm not complaining about hackers, I'm just saying that the GM thought he was hacking, therefore he banned him, so it's the GM's final say whether someone gets banned or not.

Having the final say =/= being right. It's pretty fucking obvious the persons done nothing wrong.

If banning legits is something nexon wants to do, not just nexon , but ANY gaming company , they deserve to have complaints until they are drowning in them.

As i said before, why should we complain? We all choose to play this game. If you don't like how it's run, you're not forced to play. You can go quit at any time if you want.

I wouldn't be surprised if my gunslinger got auto-banned yesterday because they forgot to update its rules for pirate classes. -_-

I wanted to get on the hut because I thought it would be fun. The only reason why I stayed was because I wanted people to leave a message, and then I could read them when I got back. This was the only thing that was going through my head, I wasn't thinking that a gm would come by and ban me.

I will let you guys know how this turns out, I just hope that it will be some time soon, because I like training my pirate.

lol I like the "better safe than sorry" comment. You really think Nexon operates like that? They should be banning almost all the DrKs with random gear and low/no fame that are 12x+. The majority of characters like that are and have always been hackers. Not all, of course... BUT BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.

Nexon has just always known it's impossible to get up on top of that hut legitly. However, now that Pirates are out, there is a class that can easily get up there legitly. Does Nexon know this? No. They decided to continue operating under their "ON TOP OF HUT = HAX" mentality before even asking him how he did it or giving him the benefit of the doubt. Some Gunslinger should really show a GM (like they'd even care to watch lol) what's now possible to do with their Wings skill.

This can be understandable to a point though. Faulty programming is understandable, faulty judgement is not.

I really feel bad for you. It looks like you worked really hard. A responsible GM would investigate further before initiating an immediate banning. I wonder why before a GM bans a player, why they do not consult someone before doing so if the evidence is unclear. Gaming company or not...NEXON needs to shape up on their protocol.

I am LordZoma's brother and I also was banned with him. Both of us jumped onto the platform and we were only gone a couple of hours. I really hope we get our bans released because we literally did nothing wrong. Maybe when you touch the top of the shack, it sends an automatic ban to the account when you log off.

Or how about Issaac asks you about some intricate questions about MapleStory lore. Or how about Fiel asks you about stuff concerning data.

They aren't expected to know everything about everything. We all learn new stuff all the time yet no one bitches to us. Oh that's right, because the community is always right and Nexon is always wrong. It's an honest mistake. And guess what, we're all fucking human and make mistakes. You wouldn't want to be criticized all the time on your mistakes now would you. I bet you don't keep up-to-date on everything. Why don't the people who do make you look stupid or call you idiots and stuff just like you're treating the GMs.

Agreed that there needs to be a better way of separating legit actions from hacks. Particularly when a game account that has spent real world money becomes involved. But... don't feel too bad, Nexon isn't the only company to be so heavy-handed.

Here's a story from another certain MMORPG I play in which you can train your fishing skill. A friend of mine decided that in order to earn a substantial amount of money to fund his supplies and equipment, he would train his Fishing to 99 before training his combat. This kid spent HOURS per day fishing, and all the while, talking our ears off in our Guild chat, and on Ventrilo. However, he didn't talk nearly at all in the general chat (basically because a lot of random players walking by are morons... any game has those.) and so people started reporting him for being a "bot." The game staff took action... in the form of perma banning his account, citing that he was using an auto program to continuously train the skill. Even though an entire guild could vouch that he certainly wasn't.

I'm not surprised Nexon was so heavy-handed in banning a character. It will probably take a lot longer than necessary for them to see the error of their ways and it will too little too late. in the meantime, they will just crank out more NX events to squeeze more cash out of their remaining players.

We're all human. We all make mistakes. Yeah, excuses, excuses. I can agree it is a bit much to expect GMs to understand how all the new skills work within the first week they come out (I'll ignore the fact that they could have done some simple research on them prior). I don't agree with your analogy at all, though.

Ask me any question about MS. If I can't answer it, I'll easily be able to find the answer. Oh, what's that? Look up something I don't know for sure? What a concept. Instead of seeing someone on the hut and going, "HAXXXXX" and demonstrating their quick trigger finger, they could have given him the benefit of the doubt and looked up whether it was possible or not. But let me guess, that's too much to expect from Nexon, too, right?

They put very little effort into learning all of the things in their game, which has become painfully obvious (need I point out the misleading/incorrect notices?). They're so unprofessional about almost everything they do. It's pathetic.

Oh, and yes I do. I stay as possibly up-to-date on just about everything MS as I can. As a player of the game, I like to know what's going on and what's coming up. I bet you I know vastly more than the "Game Masters." Ironic, huh? It doesn't even take much effort to stay informed.
