You, and everyone who has ever watched a video regarding it, or has read journalism websites discussing it.

As do I, but that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. The vast majority of PC users want stupidly flashy and bloated.

I just wish they learned with Vista that "flashy" isnt good for everyone.

The logo is never seen outside of booting up the computer; doesn't clash with the flashy that you see while using the computer.
It's not like it's watermarked onto the screen at all times.

Am i the only one who thought the logo was.... nice ? o.o
Its simple, modern and doesnt look too overdone. Its almost perfect... it even reflects the new Metro theme they have going on.

Even if it was people would tune it out. Humans are funny like that.

What will that look like now?! Another brilliant new Microsoft design, the old Start menu was too complicated for retards, this is how it looks now, excellent for breezah-sluts:
This was before they changed the Win8 logo, most likely it will get replaced by the monochrome Win8 recycle bin flag...
But yeah, there are already register hacks so you can bring back the advanced start menu.
I'm still waiting for a project that will get rid of the Win8 Metro crap totally, or make metro just a small application that you can run on your desktop, instead of running a desktop like it's Metro app-crap...
============================
Oh btw, Microsoft just announced they extended Windows 7 support (security patches / updates) till 2020.
So yeah, why worry, just wait for Windows 9 or 10...

One major thing that turns me off from the thing and also makes me not interested in researching it more is something about all this "it has apps" thing.

Yeah I know, the whole Metro interface (for desktops) is because Microsoft wanted to have an APP store for themselves. They saw the billions Apple and Google make with their APP stores, so yeah, this is their answer.
I'm kind if curious though, how Microsoft will respond to a project that will replace their APP store with another one (completely full of free APPS of course, like freeware is today).
I wonder if they will prevent that somehow, and if so if the USA/EU will fine them again for billions of dollars/euro like they did with Internet Explorer. :+)

Apparently a leak from the upcoming consumer preview shows the start button to be completely removed.
It's not about the start menu being complicated and "retards" can't use it. It's about people being able to use it with a touch screen interface.
Apps are only really for mobile devices, you can just use your normal programs on a PC. I dont really see the big deal.

If anything 9/10 are likely to be even further away from what 7 is now.

Google doesn't actually make that much money from apps, compared to Apple at least.

![[Image: 120932rk3qe9zbttxn81ibthumb.jpg]](http://i.zdnet.com/blogs/120932rk3qe9zbttxn81ibthumb.jpg) Oh nice, Microsoft is making progress... lol... Windows 3.11 didn't have a Start Button either, that was SO awesome!!! xD

But I don't want a touch screen interface for two reasons:
- Your 26 inch Screen gets dirty ALL the time with fingerprints (yay, cleaning your 26 inch monitor 8 times per day!!! )
- A mouse is less work to control a device, I don't like to raise my arms all day, while it is less effort with a mouse.

Erm, the aim from Microsoft is to make Metro the main interface.
The desktop is considered no more then a native APP from Microsoft that is started with the Metro interface...
So no, Microsoft's idea is that APPs for desktops are the best next thing (read: pay pay pay $$$).
Quote:If anything 9/10 are likely to be even further away from what 7 is now.
That depends how the Metro interface will be received by the audience, and ESPECIALLY business environments.
I don't think the Metro interface will make the work floor more productive, actually I think it will be counter productive as hell...
I wouldn't be surprised if Windows 9 would look quite a lot like Windows 7 so the work floor can upgrade Windows and stay productive...

No I'm pretty sure they want to integrate desktops with tablets and phones and having everything running on a single operating system.

Guess I'll be jumping another Windows OS. I never touched Vista.
Now I'm on W7 and having fun with some of its neat little things, like the universal search bar and pinning things to the start menu bar.
