Yes, and? Give someone an inch, and they take a mile. Better to give them a boot up the ass, as he so eloquently put it.

If you think anything a 15 year old says about their future actions is completely true then I think you're being retarded.

If I had done everything I said when I was 15, I'd moved out/ran away at least 20 times by now 8P That being said, I do wish my mother had shown more backbone at times. Kids are gonna gripe and sometimes they take it too far and need to be punished. Punishment = Yes......Laptop shooting =...maybe not the best idea...though probably strangely satisfying and entertaining for a frustrated parent. They'll probably end up buying her a new one anyway if she changes her attitude. Most of my "rest of your life" punishments ended after about a week because I learned from them quickly.

Holy crap if I cursed at my parents like that, I would be executed on the spot. Okay, maybe not executed, but my laptop would be the least of my worries.

The daughter is a lazy peach, but I agree the dad took it too far shooting her own bought laptop. Then again he did make it clear the last time it happened he swore he'll shoot it. Which he did.

She better learn.

...Okay guys let's be honest here, first off she has a STEP mother, that says a lot about the family dynamic, she's 15 and shes pissed off because she has to come home and do pomegranate along with school. Yeah you and I can talk down to this scenario as if her responsibility is minimal but she wants to be a kid. It's on private, it was just a rant, and it's HEALTHY to do so, her dad took it to far and everyone just assumes shes ungrateful.

Because everyone knows the majority of teenage girls are.

Ok, i'll give you that. I only said girls because we were talking about one.

Why so personal by the way? It's not like i was talking about you as a kid.

Anyone would have called you out on that and said the same thing. I debated it but decided not to.

You can't assume divorce if that's what you are trying to say; I have a stepfather because my biological father died when I was 4.

And it being on private makes it even worse to me, it means it could have happened a lot more. If I wanted to talk pomegranate about my parents, I made damn sure they would never find out about it, because I knew if they did no amount of excuses would save me from what was to come. Maybe this will finally teach kids, or even just ONE kid, that facebook is NOT as secure a place to put all of your opinions and information as people seem to think.

Considering the girl tried to keep it private but the father seemed to have forced the information out of the site, I'm not sure what to think about that. Whatever though.

I agree with locked on this one. It wasnt right for the dude to do that, shooting her laptop and putting it on youtube makes him look foolish. Not to mention shes 15 and going through a lot of stress at the moment. I bet you would all love if your parent destroyed something you loved because you were ungrateful 2 times, as teenagers are. Then again I dont know much, and I am a teenager.

Mom (or stepmom) is still alive though.

Sorry I don't mean to sound like OH DIVORCE LOLFKUP STR8. It's just another stress/family stress she deals with.

If it's a common "attitude" problem as a responsible parent he should understand that, all I'm saying.

This guy is pretty badass, but I wouldn't have shot the laptop. I do agree that being a tough parent is better than being a nice parent any day of the week.

Sarah Wrote:I don't really consider a 15 year old's laptop from a parent a gift so much as a rental that you pay for by not being a shithead.

But the fact that SHE bought it is definitely a game-changer. Taking it away is one thing but shooting it was very, very wrong. Guy went way overboard.

Yet who pays for the internet that her laptop would be 90% useless with out who pays for the place where you keep your laptop and the person who paid for all the upgrades for it. Shooting it a bit overboard better then that take it from her and don't allow her to use the internet.

Kid does something bad and the first thing you should do is record a video of you doing theatrical dramatics.

Solving the problem.

I know a lot of people around here that would find that rational, sadly. Thankfully my dad is nice enough that he doesn't feel like he needs to control anything in my life, so I have absolutely no reasons to talk bad about him in the first place.

No..it really isn't a stress factor unless this is one of those homes where the step parent treats the kid like crap I doubt that's the case.
