The fun of using magic is that they are not all the same (bouncing fire balls, machine gun crystals, slow scythes, magic bullets, throwing daggers...), having different uses. With melee you are stuck with swords, boomerangs and flails and with ranged you have bows and guns.

True. I like the diversity / variety of the magic weapons, just sucks only a couple are even remotely useful. I do have a love for the Rainbow Rod lol

Finally got my laptop back again (installing Terraria as I'm typing this) so now I can finally enjoy all that 1.1 and 1.1.1 brought us. Still at Demonite tier though, if the character and map files I managed to salvage from my old hard drive work that is.

Only for the Snow Biome and stuff. I still use my original 1.0 world for everything else :f6:

I decided to make a new world and took about 2500 blocks of snow from there, now busy making an icy palace with some candy cane towers on top. Moving all the stuff I have stored takes forever, but my new house is much better. Also, what would you guys recommend I'd get before taking on Skeletron?

Try getting an Enchanted Boomerang, and at least Silver/Gold armor just to make things less risky. If you can't get an ''E-rang'', then a Silver/Gold Bow would do just fine. Ironskin Potion if you want to guarantee you'll never die during it.

To be honest the bosses before hardmode are insanely easy that it's just sad. Once you get to hardmode though? God help you.... Me and my fiance didn't beat hardmode Eye of Cthulhu until our 3rd attempt. Destroyer was easy though, it's really no different than fighting the Eater of Worlds: Just stand and swing a sword.

I went and bought a minishark, 500 silver bullets, brought iron skin and regeneration potions and blew the guy to pieces in less than 5 minutes. Then I made a tuxedo and sunglasses.

So what kind of base/house/palace/castle is everyone using? What I did myself was make a hill of snow (in a way monsters can't climb it) and build a castle on top, with a basement full of chests and things like workbenches below it, and below that a garden & hellavator.

Didn't change much after this, just upgraded my forge, put dart traps on the lava pit, made the shafts a little larger so the eyes also go inside and fixed other spawning problems.

It protects me against everything other than Wraiths.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as protection from Wraiths.

I set up a 2 block thick wall of lava around my house/tower and they pass through it, harm free.

You could try with Perma shotting Dart traps (Timers) But they are pretty slow and you would need more space for those. Boulders are another option but you need to refill those everytime.

Got up/down to hell now. Almost dropped the voodoo doll in the lava, managed to catch it just in time. Also got myself a godly Flamarang and Dark Lance, looking for a Demon Scythe now. Decided to build a dungeon brick wall around my castle and made sure now doors were touching the ground. Going to prepare some more before I'll fight the Wall of Flesh though.

So I have a gigantic treehouse, rooming it with my best friend. But I hear that wyverns go through houses and whatnot... all my NPCs are there too. Now, neither of us have gotten to Hard Mode yet, but when we do... do we have to move out of our treehouse? I'm way too attached to it but if that's the case, I'ma be very sad.

Yes, Wyverns go through everything, but 1.1.1 reduced the spawn rate of Wyverns so they don't attack you 24/7.
