I have deleted a character before a rollback before, and gotten it back after. Nexon CAN restore EVERY SINGLE DETAIL OF YOUR ACCOUNT, with a rollback. A rollback is a literal back track to the latest unaffected back-up data. Period.
Her saying that suggests how poor of a company Nexon truly is. "We're wrong, but we don't want to undo what little good we did, when what bad we did was actually worse, no matter how much good was done, because we removed something that ultimately DID NOT affect legit players."
All they have to do is rollback, which I would hate for them to do, keep the servers down, re-do their idiot code (I swear they do not possibly have a competent programmer working for them) have it...
If UA > is there a lvl 120 Cygnus
no = ban
yes = (honestly not sure what they should check for here, assuming it's possible that some hackers did have lvl 120 cygnus characters)
In this case, some legits might get BANNED, but that's much more easily handled, and they should tell EVERYONE affected, to make a ticket using a specific title, and prioritize them.
They could try searching for unreleased hair, or w/e, but the above would be much more thorough. They could be more specific in the above search, but if they get too specific, they'd miss hackers. If they just did their jobs properly, the first search would be fine, if only a minor inconvenience for some legits.
Idk, but they could rollback, unselfishly, I think that's what they should do, selfishly, I hate that they can't get anything right, they just let their incompetence shine through every chance they get.
Edit: Right after I posted, I just realized how this is even more pathetic. Why would you even want to just delete a single character, they hacked, they should have banned the account to begin with.

Weks, my DrK is gone.
Did the quests and had maxed Soul Driver.
The amount of compensation is going to make up for it if they're not restoring it.
No 120 Cygnus on my account either.
If it matters, I had Piercing Gaze and Prince Hair, which are both released Royal hair/faces.
I'm not even a UA >_>

You know, I saw this coming, but I never imagined it would be this bad.
Worse case that I imagined was all UAs created within the past month or so would get killed off.
But seriously...
What the pineapple?!
My characters were completely unaffected, and I'm still pissed!
It's rather sickening to see so many people who I know have invested a lot in their characters having all that taken from them.
What could they possibly have used as the used as the qualifications?
Clearly it wasn't anything reasonable like creation date or, you know, whether or not the character was actually an Ultimate Adventurer.
As for the debate as to whether or not they can restore characters, I'm pretty damn sure they could.
But, if they do, then it becomes clear that they've lied every time they've ever said they couldn't.
What's more, it would also prove that they could have restored all of the characters affected by the recent/ongoing hacking wave to the state they were in before being hacked instead of offering up piss-poor compensation.
Worst of all is that all of this trouble is over an exploit that had absolutely zero effect on the economy or other players.

This may be the breaking point for quite a lot of people. I wasn't affected and I still think this is horrible, even worse than all of the other horrible things they have done before this.
Also, lol at the notice that just popped up. "Spend 30,000NX per day per world to get a gift box in cash shop!"

I'm sure that part of the criteria was fine, but don't know what they did to exclude characters with Driver. Since evidently not everyone who had UA skills got deleted.
@ above, I put my IGN in the free slot on my account already. If Nexon derps up at least I won't lose it.
Your paladin was deleted? T_T

you have no fucking idea how much i agree with you, seriously, how does nexon manage to pineapple up to these levels, it's like they grab the worse that we expect, and use that as the minimum possible damage they can cause.

I think they used the date of acquiring the skill, but put it like way back in April. Might be some Korean programmer entered 10-4-11 instead of 4-10-11 (or vice versa). Not enough data in the deleted chars list (too many people saying "shortly after UAs were created") to be sure, though.

Actually, it wouldn't.
They can't roll back individual accounts or characters.
But they can roll back the entire database.
The database snapshot from this morning before the maintenance, or from last week for that matter, surely includes these characters. People have also testified that in previous rollbacks they got deleted characters back.
They need to restore to that savepoint and then think up some better criteria to ban (not delete) by. Just in case, you know, they net the wrong fish again. At least bans are easily undone on an individual basis.

This is just ridiculous. My sympathy to all those affected by this.
I have no faith in Nexon making this right. Time to reconsider why I'm playing any game Nexon is a part of again.

The prior skill, whatever it's called, on 20/3/2011.

That helps narrow it down.
I got Empress' Might on 29/3, and level 1 SD on 6/4. Level 5 on 26/4. So if it is by date it's not by Empress' Might, but by the class-specific skill.

It seems as if they've given up on feigning any hint of decency or responsibility.
I truly don't understand this situation. Who was supposed to benefit from the intended action?
Why even risk this move?
Hime (though she's an idiot, so it's understandable) talks as if the removal of some of the exploiters is supposed to make up for the fact that legits have likely now lost all sense of security.
They should have simply eliminated all Cannoneers and called it a day.
A bunch of script kiddies running around with two extra attack and a skill that will eventually be just for show aren't going to hurt anything.
If they wanted to save the game, they missed the chance when they let people get away with massive Chaos/White Scroll production, repeated dupes, breaking & entering of accounts, and (insert all the other acts of apathy here).

Not every character with a UA skill is a UA.
Their first qualification for deletion should have been that a character was a UA.
SaptaZapta Wrote:Actually, it wouldn't.
They can't roll back individual accounts or characters. I didn't once say the word "rollback", so I'm not sure why you're using it.
If they have a saved backup, they could individually restore characters from that backup.
Since they clearly don't have an automated system for this sort of thing, it would have to be done manually, but it could still be done.
Of course, the flexibility of this method depends on how long they keep their backups.
I agree with you (and others) who have said that the solution should be bans, not deletions.
There's no reason to go easy on people who would actively seek to exploit the game. Plus, it's clearly easier to deal with a false ban than an unwarranted deletion.

If it helps, I got Empress' Might on the 25th of March, Level 1 SD 9th April, Maxed on the 26th.
I would have been playing in the afternoon in Australia, so if it's Nexon server time, cut the dates by a day.

Our suffering is now called "aggravation". And for once exploiters are bluntly deleted.
I do like this more than normal Nexon behavior.

The thing about rolling back the entire server is that the clock is ticking. The more time they take to decide, the harder it will be to justify such a rollback, as the rollback will wipe out even more data.
Personal opinion? When they make a mistake this fatal, they should definitely rollback and do whatever necessary to restore these characters. Then again, Nexon has not always done what the best option is.
I really hope those injustly banned get their characters back =X

I'm still wondering why they haven't taken the servers down.
If they want to take their time doing this, at least take the whole thing down and not let the damage continue >_>

This. They do it every time and always ignore the option of rolling back when in reality it is the best option.
Rolling back to right before the servers went down for the maintenance would've solved everything.
