Deleted Characters Being Reviewed
#1
Hime Wrote:Dear players,

Today during the maintenance we deleted many characters that were created out of an exploit but as an unforeseen consequence some legitimate characters were also deleted.

We were able to identify this issue from the community reports we have received and we are terribly sorry for this happening. Right now we are actively working with our developers in figuring out a resolution for the unintended deleted characters.

Please bear with us as we have this sorted and again, we sincerely apologize for the aggravation this has caused. We will post more information when available.

Thank you.

Well, that didn't take long. Glad they're doing something about it.

EDIT: oh yeah. link
Also, no trollback.

Not so fast, Raul. Since when did that statement say the characters are being reinstated? My guess is, if they couldn't fix that hired merchant issue, they can't fix this one either.

:f6:
It says they're trying. Note that this is a much bigger issue than that.
I'll take trying over ignoring any day.

I guess all assets on those characters were also deleted. They'd just use backed up records of the legit characters they deleted right?

No, they say they are working on a "resolution" meaning "How many maple points can we give them so they forgive us"

"working on figuring out a resolution" doesn't say anything about reinstating or about no rollback.
I don't see where you're getting these optimistic(?) notions from.
At least they're working on it, too bad they aren't taking the game down meanwhile, to reduce harm if they do elect to rollback.

Hime Wrote:Such information [about whether there will be a rollback] isn't available at this time but a full server restore point does not bring back deleted characters if that clears anything up.

Say what? That sounds suspiciously like "your character's data is all gone, so sorry, here's some maple points to remake it".

I don't think they'd stoop quite that low.
Odds on they'll reinstate the accounts that aren't UA's and give 10k MP to everyone they pineappleed up.

I don't give a rat's ass about maple points I just want my hero back items in tact which they can seem to do since they were kind enough to remove all nx items and throw them back in my cash inventory.

10k MP + your char back.

Pretty much this, except my deleted character was a Paladin, and not a Hero.

How about my char back and their that this kind of pineapple up wont ever happen again.

Sounds like the right thing to do no? But then again even this sounds too much like right on nexon's part and they wont do pomegranate or give us back the chars and say your items are gone forever

Her saying stuff like they're checking "what we can do to help" and not "how we can restore" makes me feel really sick.

I don't believe they can restore deleted characters. They'd have to re-create it entirely, which means losing anything that was on that character, item/meso wise.

Seriously? They just pressed the big delete button?

What the hell is wrong with them!? Why would they do that? Why couldn't they ban the characters while they sorted everything out? Hell, just change the Job ID or something so that the game crashes when they log in.

Keep in mind hime really isn't kept in the loop about anything. She has no clue what they're doing.

Wasn't CrazyNomad of Broa deleted, then Nexon recovered the character? Or am I remembering wrong?

He was hacked, so he asked Nexon to ban the account, then they worked with him to recover the data (lost equipment).... or something like that. I don't remember, really. xd

inb4 compensation of game-wide 5k Maple Points + 2 hours of 2x EXP next weekend.

It's hardly an unforeseen consequence, i mean i even said in my angry dome thread that Nexon would end up deleting legit UA's because they are idiots. It's sad that we always expect the worst and they always deliver the worst.

Also, since they have the code, they run the game and they can tell who hacks and who doesn't, how could a mistake like this even be made? surely they have the technology, they are just either lazy or bad at their job

More from our pal Hime:

Quote:A few legits were affected but much more hacker-created Ultimate Explorers were deleted.

Oh yeah, that makes it totally OK. Collateral damage? So what?

What a ^%$#$#^% peach

Hime said that they're working on a solution?
Confirmed. They're not doing squat about it.
