Will gach, cubes etc. soon become illegal?

Locked Wrote:How about Boss Level/2 = Cubes dropped minimum and Boss level/1.5 as cubes dropped maximum.
Example: Zakum is 110.
Minimum of 55 cubes dropped(5 stacks of 11), maximum of 73 cubes dropped.
But then, ToT bosses and Richie would drop more cubes than zak and czak.
It should have something to do with monster hp or difficulty level.

Ok, ONLY Empress will drop cubes then.

Up side to my version is that cubes are tradeable.

Seems a bit excessive though. With 55-73 cubes dropping per zak run, they'll quickly go under 1 mil each, and everyone would have 200% main stat.
If that method was implemented, they should be made untradeable.

I still say the DFO way would be better Tongue

Well, it's gambling people will catch on and in a way it could become illegal. For example back in the day when people played Yugioh and there were major torneys there used to be $1000.00 prize. Some how Konami got in trouble and ahd tog et rid of since the intention of the game were for kids, about 5 years later to this day cash torneys sanctioned my Konami themselves do not exist.

Pay to play games could get away with it but F2P games that CLAIM it's for kids will only get away with it for so long. Honestly, right now it's looking to like it's turning to how yugioh was.

I find this fair.

Why not change the way alchemy fusing works too? While we can't get rid of NX cubes (at least for now), let's give NX-less or low-NX players a chance of getting some decent potential. The current fusing-for-potential system is just way too random to be useful.

Any ideas? Eek

That would cause nexon to lose profit.
Never happening.
I'm not talking about just nexon here, if any company has paying customers, and also nonpaying customers, they care A LOT more about paying ones.

Nah.
Everyone's happy then.
Fair game.

Lose profit? You realize if this passes, Nexon's going to lose MASSIVE income, because their cashcow was labeled as "Illegal".

While gachapon would be directly affected by this measure, there are dozens of ways nexon can pass off cubes as not "gambling"

They'll find other way to make income. No more 2x? Bring in the cubes! No more cubes? Bring in *whatever is the next thing people will buy in thounsands.*!

DFO Method! I'll keep saying this, because it's the best method!

Did you even read the article? The whole thing is about Random chance "Jackpot" items in where you have a small % to hit it big. In the case of Maple, "Hit the next rarity" and/or "Hit the 3 stats you want".

Yes, there's a way but that doesn't always mean they will get away with it. If anything cubes are worse because some items in gacha aren't only gacha items where you don't NEED to gacha in order to get that item so now it's not really gambling you just choose to take the risk instead getting the item without spending money. Cubes is the only way you can get a scrolled items and/or unique items to the stats you like, pretty much rolling dice in a casino and try to get double sixes and paying each time you roll a die. It's literally the same thing.

Choosing to take a risk to get a good item is the definition of gambling
And what's the DFO method?^

Which is exactly what the cubes are. You take a risk to get the preferred stats you want, in addition to a possibility of "Upgrading" the rarity (Rare->Epic->Unique->Legendary). If anything, it's TWO "Gambles" in one.

You pay NX to choose the stats you want.

It doesn't need to be as efficient as cubing, of course, and people who would use this method would be the NXless maplers, anyways. People who buy cubes would still buy cubes, people who don't/can't buy cubes would use the alternative way.

In the end, it wouldn't affect Nexon's profit negatively, just make NXless maplers happier and more likely to buy some NX in the future.

Blades4hire Wrote:I'm not talking about just nexon here, if any company has paying customers, and also nonpaying customers, they care A LOT more about paying ones.

We're talking about a F2P MMORPG, nonpaying customers today are the future paying customers tomorrow. If Nexon doesn't care about their nonpaying customers, then turn MapleStory into a P2P game already.

It's cheaper to play a P2P MMORPG than being an average player on MapleStory, anyways Rolleyes

Why do game developers spoil their games with "pay to win" features? Hell, if this happens to MS, we're doomed. People are already OP enough with random luck cubing...

inb4 15 sec Zakum solos.

Nexon could simply argue that their cubes give players a fair chance of upgrading their equipment
Technically, using scrolls is gambling too. Nexon could put cubes in the same category as scrolls.
If you think about it, most CS items are "gambling"
CS surprises, cubes, gacha, shielding wards, vegas, pams, the list goes on and on.

It at least gives everyone a fair chance. Right now the whole thing is based around "Who can throw the most money at the game".
Also, what do you mean "We're doomed"? Maple's already been on a downward spiral every since the introduction to the retarded system, in the first place. Being able to CHOOSE your stats at least gives it SOME saving grace.

Except you don't pay RL money for scrolls :|
There's a HUGE difference between spending in-game currency to buy a "Gamble" item and spending real life money to buy a "Gamble" item.
