Hurricane Irene - its potential impact on the East Coast

I don't think it's something to worry over. Some instructors gave a brief for what to do in the event of an emergency, however. Me? I look forward to it

Sunday morning is when it hits me I think, am scared that it'll pineapple my internet for raid that night.

You might wanna call off your WoW raid because there's a good chance power lines will go down due to winds.

OT: Even if the storm weakens, it still has the potential to do lots of damage. Flooding is a huge concern. Don't forget the potential of downed power lines.

Extreme zone probably means she's close to or in the predicted path for the center of the hurricane. Assuming Irene doesn't go off course, she might get a evacuation order if she doesn't live on high ground.

I live right in her path. Massachusetts is going to get creamed.

I hope that the projected path of the hurricane stays along the middle of Long Island or further east. I will be boned if the eye of the storm moves west to near where I live. @.@

Then again, I should be fine in the basement. We do have provisions and stuff, and I'll still have my cell and laptop with me, so I'm good hopefully.

I'm not overly worried, but I never really had a major hurricane here....

Man, I still remember hurricane Georges. The power of the wind was insane (you could hear it freaking roar, literally). But the part that left me in awe was when the eye was right on top of us. Seriously, everything suddenly calmed down, not a single drop of rain or anything. And just as sudden, bang, butt raped by the reversal of the storm which was a whole lot worse than the first part of the hurricane. Insane.

I experienced this while on a safe place in a sort of rural/open environment btw. My experience there does not even compare with what the urban and mountainous areas went through.

That was Cat. 3 though. I suppose people should be expecting winds similar to the ones shown on the first few seconds of that video. It can be dangerous if basic safety measures aren't taken. Like, get the pineapple out of the street, steer clear of glass windows, and evacuate if your area is prone to flooding... Commons sense stuff.

This. I didn't think it was supposed to get this bad here in Virginia Beach until in the afternoon (which is what I kept hearing on the news and from my dad). There have already been funnels spotted and even a tornado or two spawned from this Hurricane in North Carolina.


The power is probably going to go out here sometime today. I have my Nintendo 3DS, DS Lite and GBA SP charged with games ready for play for when the power does go out. Lmao


Oh, well. I guess I'll post after power comes back up and internet comes back in a couple of days or whenever it happens to confirm saftey.

My verizon service went out for like 5 hours today already. TV, internet, and phone... not good. It's obviously back on right now or I couldn't post.

Yeah right after it hit landfall the hurricane was downgraded from a category 3 to a category 1. Everything will be fine, if a bit windy.

I remember Isabel being worse than this. It rained so much that it made our lake flood half of my backyard.
