This is pretty bad. Even though the storm has slightly lost some steam, it still has the potential to do a lot of damage, especially in the metropolitan areas.

For NYC especially, this could become their Hurricane Katrina in the worst case scenario

And this is impacting my travel plans too.....tropical storm warnings were issued most of New England, and hurricane warnings were issued for certain areas of New England also. I might not be able to fly in tomorrow night; I have a feeling that my flight will get outright cancelled. Tongue

I know I'll be fine in the Triangle but I'm really worried about the Outer Banks. They seem to be taking the brunt of this in my state.

My freaking soccer games got canceled.
There goes $120 for less than an inch of rain.
Thank you, tournament organizers.
You suck.

I'd say the wind is a bigger concern. Even for here.

It's going to be (at maximum) 20 or 30 mph.
I've played games in much worse.
They're just wimping out, christ.
Wind isn't even that bad during soccer.

Uhhhhh. It's not close enough for you to worry but as far as any power outages that may happen, it may hit there.

They're not in any real serious danger though.

 Spoiler

It looks like the entire state of Massachusetts will be affected. The storm will get weaker, though.

My friend in Georgia went swimming (indoors) when it was in his area. Didn't really seem to phase him. Not sure whether the hurricane will grow weaker or stronger but I hope my friends on the east coast will be okay.

Hurricane Irene - its potential impact on the East Coast - OB3LISK - 2011-08-26

It's not supposed to be horrible I think, but that people shouldn't take it as a joke.

Time will tell I guess. I'm not overly worried about it to be honest.

Hurricane Irene - its potential impact on the East Coast - Corn - 2011-08-26

I'm not overly worried, but I never really had a major hurricane here....

Hurricane Irene - its potential impact on the East Coast - Index - 2011-08-27
