It really was brief. FMS started around June and Nexon is after FMS after 4 months. I can say on behalf of many players from FMS that we had a good time there. I've met many cool people and made some friends there, and even though the game has glitches and such, we had a good time. =]


in the end, we all leave MS behind,
it's only matter of time and what you want from it, I guess.

Man, I sure hope we get to keep the forums as means to keeping in contact with friends >_>

I don't care that much about the game, though I hope for the best of the devs. It was just an alternative to "hanging out".

On topic of P-servers, my Computer Networking professor (my professor for 3-straight semesters), plays World of Warcraft. This guy has like 15+ lv 70 characters on WoW (he showed me), and he plays a p-server (offline). I asked him a question in regards to private servers today after lecture:

Me: Drew, what do you think about private servers?
Drew: Well.. I mean, man, it's ok, it's good and sh`it because you get to f`uck around and do sh`it that you normally can't do. But.. it takes away the fun because personally, I'd rather experience everything and explore, ya' know? I mean, don't get me wrong, dude, it's fun and sh`it, but it gets boring after a while.
Me: I see, heh.
Drew: Yeah, oh, and hey dude, whenever you want to switch to World of Warcraft, let me know, we'll do some f`ucking raids.

Yes, that's exactly.. what he said.. But yes, even my teacher said that p-servers are stupid and boring. I'm been anti-pservers since they came out. Because a lot of them took away my friends, so I have a reason to be against it. Not so much as because you "level uber fast with pomegranate handed to your ass" or any of that pomegranate.

You call your prof by first name? I once referred to Dr. Buechner as just "Buechner" to the head of the piano department and he lashed out at me like crazy >_>


But on the topic, its sad to see FMS go indeed, even if I dont play it. My dislike of private servers was because of a few reasons:

1. The high exp rates (as Butterfli calls it, spoiled) take away from the point of playing and just makes it unchallenging and... yeah =X
2. There's no community there. The reason most people seem to play is to try out these high levels and crap but that's about it.
3. Some people find it an easy source of income. I dont think they should be stealing other people's work to make "easy money" and their form of advertisement just sucks.
4. You see youtube litered with their videos. As a person who wants to see quality videos made, seeing it extremely hard to find a well made video instead of some video advertising a private server annoys the hell outta me. I'd wish I could filter those out but there's nothing I can do about it.

That being said, Flowsion for the most part isnt any of that. As Butterfli and Josh have mentioned, the exp rates are the lowest amongst private servers, there's a community there... in fact one can argue that this is even a BETTER community because it has drawn people back together. People who havent played ms in ages and have lost contact were able to find each other again here. People were able to make new friends, etc. What happens in FMS stays in FMS for the most part and you dont see very many videos about it on youtube.

That being said, what I earnestly believe is this: FMS has some VERY talented developers and I can see it being highly possible that they started their own game or came up with another way to keep the community united. As some who play have said, FMS is like a chat room on steroids (my paraphrase) with flashy eye candy and stuff. That means that FMS is actually a chat rooom... what's to say that you cant just make a new one with your own material and still keep people to play it/use it? I believe they really do have a special community and the staff there are people who get it: That service to the fans keeps them playing and whatnot and that they can go in a different direction and be successful, especially since they have a fanbase already.

@ Josh: your example has one problem: The smaller resturaunt with better service isnt in any way interfering with the bigger one/the bigger one has no right/no reason to sue the smaller company. A more reasonable example would be a small resturant with no chef buying food from a big resturant with bad service and reserving it for roughly the same price or the smaller resturaunt with better service stealing the recipes from the big one with crappy service.

The answer to your example is obvious: One would go to the smaller one with better service. However, there are ethical issues that are also there that'd lead people to the big one if food was indeed being "resold" or if there were stolen recipes involved.

Yes Private servers are "wrong", but at the same time, they have something special here. Let them reminisce about their server and best of luck to Trunks and the team in figuring out a resolution.

@Retalion: Yes, I call my professor by his first name. It's awkward for me to call him by his last name, he may be in his mid 20's or early 30's, but in a lot of ways, he feels more like a friend than a teacher at times. So thus, I call him by his first name. So does a lot of his students.

Many people, like myself, have always been against Private Servers. Frankly, I think they're retarded. Laws aren't meant to be broken. Yeah, I'm sure FMS was run better and even more fun than GMS at times. That's great, but that doesn't change anything. It's still a PS that has defied GMS and the law since the beginning. Goodness. There's no reason to say the crap that's been said to him when he's just sharing his opinion.

Then your judgment must be blinded, or you don't want to accept the fact that this happened, or you don't actually understand. Not flaming by the way, but, if you look harder, you should see.

Heres a hint:

Maplestory is a F2P MMORPG w/ Optional Transaction. Sure you have to buy NX with real life cash for somethings, but with the features they added, if you learn to merchant, you can use the MTS for your NX. The income to keep the game up and running, for development of more content, and for the employees to put food on the table for their family, depends on the cash shop.

I think you are missing the point. Whether I(or lots of others) play GMS or not, Nexon isnt making money from me. If I use MTS it is with money Nexon already has, makes no difference to their bottom line if I have 10k or 1000k in MTS. I havent given any money to Nexon. So if I go and play a PS they havent lost any revenue from me or the multitudes like me.

There are lots like me who wont spend a cent and would rather play a PS with all the benefits they offer compared to Nexon's rubbish service and "$$$ before customers" attitude. They lose no income from people like me.

Yeah, b'itches need to get off Mark's back. You all just might have lost one of the best current private servers out there. Trunks really made it great, and seeing this happen is just another 'reminder' per se, since most of the people interested in private servers didn't take the hint after Odin.

Sure, as butterfli said, many people play private servers for the socializing. Okay? Nothing new; tons of GMSers look at the game the same way. But what about the people that do choose to play private servers as another grindfest. Let's take that ignorant b0wj0b guy for example. You, sir, were one of the first to reach level 200. You spent months getting there. And now look; it's all gone to sh'it. Face it; Nexon's taking action on FlowsionMS; as much as people would love to see it pull through (Me included), it's not going to. And then someone'll make another private server. It'll last for a couple of months, we'll have some really hxc grinders, then it'll shut down too. How long is it going to take for you guys to realize that in the end any private server WILL get shut down, and you'll have wasted a f'uckton of time if you actually chose to grind on it.

It's very much like me attempting to feel sympathy for Koolk when I've never chatted or talked to him. It's extremely difficult and internet posters for the most part use the internet because it's low maintenance and they can speak what they believe to be the cold hard truth. We all carry that bias of memories and friendships around.

And a lot of people recognize that FlowsionMS was a great tool to meet new people. But they don't know the Kevin homosexual jokes, the Congee coolness, nor your funny posts in the comedy section. They don't know that we made up niches and roles and that we didn't think it was going to get closed down. They don't know how funny it was for Trunks to make another giant blunder.

They don't know the problems some of the members faced. The young high school community, the middle college community, and the mature post-college community that shared their art, their problems, and their events with everyone. I really wonder about Yatsu and whether she will be okay. I know that I'll never hear a "no homo" from Kevin unless he decides to migrate. I don't even know if Growly will be able to find us anymore when he decides to drop a visit :<

So did Windia, Khaini, Bellocan, Mardia, Kradia, and Yellonde The half of my BL that still plays GMS is mostly on Windia and Khaini now...


Even if every Private server gets shut down, there will still be 8 GMS servers, and your friends won't all come back to the one you're on.

playing Private server IS a voilation to Nexon's ToS.
I don't really blame people who laugh down at private servers.

well, first was OdinMS, then TitanMS (Koolk), and FlowsionMS.

Maybe in the end there won't be any private servers left

(and a long time after that, there won't be any Maple Story from Nexon )

Not to add fuel or anything, just want to add my two cents.

To the people saying that we who were playing FMS are biased, you would be biased too, as you're plainly against PServers. You would simply be apathetic with this, since frankly, you don't give a pomegranate about it. On the other hand, we saw it coming too. Josh may have been quite the Anego-buddy, but that doesn't mean that all he did was grind. Our guild [Love] was quite sociable and chatty at times with him, much more than I've ever seen in any of my guilds on GMS.

For the record, I've quit Maple completely. I've taken to playing other games now, but I still roam around and stuff.
