After this, I'm about ready to quit Maple due to Nexon's greediness. Private servers barely have enough pull away from GMS to affect their profits by a very noticeable margin. If anything, thy help boost the revenue that they make.

So, I'm off to find another free game to play, only until FlowsionMS is back, or I buy LittleBigPlanent.

It does infact drag maplers from GMS.Many people have started playing private servers and completly stop playing in GMS. They get spoiled on private servers and thats what kills nexon. Sorry but..If I was nexon,i'd probably do the same.

It sucks, but sorry to say it was BOUND to happen. You're dealing with a big corporation, you think they'll just let it slide like that? They're not as stupid as people think they are. They're not being greedy, they have all the right to sue people that develop the private servers & shut it down. Seriously if you DEVELOPED a game and made it 'free' for use(b/c you don't have to pay a monthly fee to play & even if you didn't) and then all of a sudden another version of the EXACT same game comes out, & detours your players from playing YOUR game to go to theirs, then they're losing people & money..I'd be pissed off too.

Most people who left gMS for a ps, are not likely to come back to gMS for any reason. In fact, most people who played fMS, played for the sake of friends. Being possibly the lowest rate ps out there, people who played fms weren't playing for a high leveled character, like the other lolservers that completely ruined the game.

For many fms players, it was a flashy instant messenger where you can do things with friends and have fun, and not so much OMG NEW CONTENT/MAPLESTORY.

I think FMS was one of the lower rate ones, but I don't think it was the lowest. Odin had an 8x rate and FMS had a 10x or 20x rate I believe.

I realized now that with all of theses PSes being taken down forcefully by NEXON, it seems like they're going in the opposite direction when it comes to games. People had their share of fun in these PSes, and then it's taken away, in addition to GMS being very little fun anymore because of the rotten eggs in the community and the many ways NEXON screws up the game. Seems to be like taking a toy away from a baby, or taking a child off of play equipment, and throwing them into a jail cell, I think. Tongue

I really don't see how private servers in any way bring Nexon revenue.

Also, Nexon isn't being greedy. They are losing players due to these private servers. You really shouldn't peach at them because they are doing what is legal. Although the loss of this private server is saddening, there is really nothing wrong on Nexon's part about their actions.

Thanks for the rundown on it. But a lolpserver is still a lolpserver. It's the player's fault for jumping ship and getting spoiled with insane rates thus destroying their GMS expectations.

In short: Don't play Private servers if you like Maplestory.

true. we ALL know (even the developers) know that FMS might get caught.

but they took that risk and still made what FMS is today.
and many people who played FMS are grateful for the gaming environment
and one of the best community that FMS provided.

Sure, the higher EXP/DROP rate was attracting, but that isn't the reason why I played FMS.
and I dont mean to offend anyone (if i ever do), but if you don't know why some people play p server

WHAT'S WITH THE "OK" IN ALL CAPS? I WASN'T TRYING TO FLAME YOU OR ANYTHINGZ.

There are plenty of reasons why a person would want to leave gMS. Many people enjoy playing maplestory, but hate Nexon's actions for the game (making dark scrolls gash based instead of dropping from monsters/etc). I can rant on and on about Nexon since I've written papers for school about their actions and turned in.

I wouldn't call fms' rate "spoiling". Servers like this is spoiling. Not to mention stupid.

fms was based on gMS--you had to work for things. You had to scroll for yourself, level 30 skills weren't just handed out by an NPC, etc.

Yeah, I saw this coming, it was just a matter of time. It affected me more than it did you, obviously.

I dont see how PS are "severely hurting and damaging Nexon's business"...the people who go to PS's go there because the wont spend any $$$ in GMS.
