Maker - Alchemy Skill FAQ and Walkthrough
FrozNlite Wrote:Nice stuff Isaac. Hearing about what this does to the economy makes me, like so many others, want to stockpile ores and crystals up the wazoo for appraisal. This thread is basically our prior knowledge at a good stock that some choose to invest in; of course that's a federal crime irl, but it's nice that here it's simply an advantage ;D.

A few questions though:

1. Doesn't this whole system fundamentally screw over lukless classes and others? For example, I'm planning on resetting to lukless, and thinking of my future equips (zhelm, YWG, YSS, Dark Starlight, Maple Shield, Cape, Earrings, Ele Wand, HT Pendant, etc.), NONE of those are the BASIC equips of a class at a certain level. In other words, this maker system only benefits those that use the base equips of a class, correct? And for those of us who may be lukless but have enough luk from pendant and zhelm to wear a lvl 38 robe and lvl 40 gloves, we're STILL screwed over because you can't make those level of equips?

2. This is kind of a question off of number 1, but in the event everything I asked in the first question is true, what effects did all of that information have on jMS? Are all the old lukless Magicians now raising their luk ever so much so they can be wearing forged level 50 overalls or whatnot they can add +15 INT to the overall(in other words people choosing to raise luk by 10 to add 15 INT to an equip and get a net matk gain)? This kind of planning is stuff I'd like to be doing soon.

3. Another similar question, in a scenario-style way: so Maple Magician Shields have +2 INT and 10 slots, meaning the best shield possible is 22/30. However, can this skill be used to forge, say, a clean Esther Shield with +15 INT, so you would have a +17 INT 7 slot Esther? Then that Esther Shield's best possible stats become 31/21, an equip equal in power but better for MP gain in the long run, plus more readily available than MMShields(presumably, since you could constantly forge them rather than have to wai for events)? So in the end, in other words, are people ditching Maple Shields and shields with 10 slots for godly clean Esthers, etc.?

I think in the end my three questions can be summed up like this: What does the Maker skill and everything it entails mean for people in gMS NOW, who want to plan ahead for the future? Should we ignore buying that 12/11 YWG in the FM if in 2 months we can forge 18int clean Dark Pennances? Should we be ignoring the claims of lukless > all, dexless > all, etc., and be raising luk/dex/etc stats ever so much in order to get more benefits from this skill? What do WE have to change, in other words, in order to better prepare ourselves for utilizing the most advantageous benefits of this skill, other than stockpiling items?

Thanks for the help!

I don't think maker will affect the difference between lukless and non-lukless magicians too much. Keep in mind that high-grade stat crystals are like 80mil in the korean servers, and they will probably be even higher in global, especially the luk crystals since they're required for nevas and crystal ilbis. I don't know about you, but I'm not too keen on throwing 30%s continuously at items worth over 100mil.

Luckily for me, I already have about 1bil's worth, on current market prices, of crystals stored up Big Grin

By the way, you can't put three of the same crystal on one item, so your items won't be getting +15 int. You can get +5 int and +5 luk though, in addition to whatever a dark crystal might give you depending on your luck. Though again, that's extremely expensive; 200mil+ for the crystals alone, and that's assuming you land the dark crystal on the desired stat and that you don't blow the item up with a 30%.

Cyanne hit a lot of the main points. In fact I don't really have much to add to that. I don't know mages in JMS or KMS so I can't comment on how it's affected them. I think the idea behind this was to give regular-stat users more of an advantage on statless, but the statless classes just have way too much of an advantage in GMS already. It couldn't equal out.

Okay thanks for the help you too. I think the thing that I forgot, which Cyanne said that pretty much killed any doubts I had, was that you can't throw 3 of the same Crystal on an equip. If that was the case I COULD see people raising luk by 10 or so, but even then, as Cyanne said, it gets so expensive that it's not even worth it.

So kewl. I continue doing what I'm doing, though just saving up Crystals now. Sounds good Big Grin.

Really though, if you do 5 int 3 luk extra on some items, you're getting up into the 5x-6x gear anyway. Might as well use it since it can be forged better.
Reply
Yeah, you can make gear as good as lv 80-90 at lv 50.

I currently have an infighter to be and hes going to be wearing a complete set of forged equipment when he hits lv 50.

I really really hope Nexon increases inventory size when this comes out, because I can't imagine where a NXless person would store the monster crystals and powders being collected, never mind refined and graded jewels (which could conceivably be done at the last minute).

Other than that, it looks like a great skill. Hope we get it soon.
Thanks Isaac for the explanations.

Yeah, it's 4 acc 3 speed 2 def 1 dex >_>

I guess from that overall that Dark Crystals add +-3 +-2 +-1 to stats randomly?:f6: I mean it went +3 str +2 dex -1 def

My two mules' inventory is already full. Admittedly I'm something of a packrat, and could probably clean some stuff out. But not enough for all the different colors of powders and different grades of monster crystals. Certainly not enough for refined jewels in all their different qualities.

A mule on another account is very inconvenient to transfer stuff to and from, if you don't have two computers.

Also keep in mind that these powders drop like ores, and crystals are made from etc drops. This means that unless your mule is able to actually follow your main around like a pack animal and immediately store whatever you find, your main needs enough room to hold all the types of ores AND powders the monsters in his current training spot drop, plus their etc drops (that you'd normally leave on the ground unless you need them for a quest or something), until he gets to a town.

It may be possible to do. It wouldn't be fun.

I can't log on right now:f6:So a quick run down...

Paladin - 2 rows of "permanent" untradeable items (Florina Beach ticket, etc.), 2 rows of "worth something" (Leafre seeds, untradeable CWK drops, other valuables), 3 rows of "stuff there's no room for on my mules".
DK - 2 rows free, the rest full of more similar "worth something", some ores, quest items (collect 500 dual pirate drops, etc.) which I haven't turned in
Mule - event items and rare etc. - Sabbath candles, Christmas presents, Ancient Scrolls, etc.

Mule 2 - Refined metal/jewel/crystals (mostly 20~30, though I do have 300+ Black Crystal)
Mule 3 - Unrefined ores - stuff directly transferred, it only gets refined as it hits stacks of 100

If they add... 3 new types of every ore, plus monster crystals and powders... I'm gonna have to move on to Mule 4 and Mule 5

I'll try to get a screenshot of my etc. crap once the game comes back up to get an idea of what's actually in thereTongue I know I've got at least 4 inventories full at this point, if I consolidated empty space (1-2 rows each over 5 chars).

Transferring ores to my secondary account is basically a twice a year thing, it's an absolute pain in the ass. I don't have a 2nd computer so I have to run Maple in a VM.

I've got more than 3 mules full of crap too. I really wish we could have 5-6(or more) character per server instead of 3.

You can store random craps in MTS, you know.

That's where most of the ore/crystals that are worth something goes to nowadays. Plus my scrolls and spare equips that can go in MTS.

Can any kMS player tell us about the relative prices and demand for crystals, specifically the stat and dark crystals? Also, which mineral plates are in highest demand, and which types of equipment are most popularly made, if any? Thanks in advance for answering.

low grade stat crystals are like 30k each, or just dropped cause no one buys them.
medium grade dex and int crystals are about 2m each.
medium grade luk and str crystals are about 4-5m each.
medium grade dark crystals.. I can't really say. you don't see these very often.
high grade anything (except diamonds) are about 40-50m each.

I'd say the most popular equips being made are weapons and overalls. though from what I can see from talking to the korean players, a lot of them don't even know how to use the maker skill. because of this, there's not much supply of anything made directly through the skill.

as for which plates are in the highest demand.. hmm.. I'd say steel is #1 followed close by mithril. they seem to have the highest prices. about steel though, keep in mind that mushmom no longer has iron boars guarding her home, so there's fewer steel plates being made from their hooves.

i'm reminded of the changes to the skill that occurred recently. Whenever Official KMS has its next patch, I'll go on and check it out.

Oh really?

So...what IS guarding her home now, and when does this change happen? Heart

if I remember right, there's green mushrooms now. this happened a few patches ago; a lot of victoria island was changed. for one example, there's no green mushrooms at the top of HHG1 anymore. just lots of pigs.

There's still two pig park maps though, so I don't see how it would inflate steel THAT much.

But it's nice to know. *Hoards steel*
