Secret Mastery Book Predictions.
#41
Stereo Wrote:Except if you're farming mastery books for profit, you'll drop anything you can't sell right away, because it's a waste of 1 slot on your shop mule. And you'd need 190+ slots to keep 1 of every book in stock.
I don't know of any mob that drops books so frequently such that inventory space would be a big problem between sales. And I'm sure there was someone who muled all those stance 20s people used to drop, they're certainly rich now.

People can farm? Unless by "people" you mean botters, that's completely wrong. You can go to the least annoying mobs, but if they drop a smb once in 10k kills, and each smb has about 0.5% chance to be the one you were looking for, you will need to kill, on average, 2 million of these "least annoying" mobs to get your book.
So for example, suppose you start farming at 105 on Captains, and stay there because it's a mini-dungeon where botters and ks'ers can't interfere. Captains give 1495 exp each, so 2m of them give almost 3b exp. You will be 150 long before you find that TT20 you needed at 123.
Yes, if you're weird and insist on finding everything yourself, this system puts you up pomegranate's creek. But in the aggregate, the system will make the rarest books more available (eliminate supply as a problem), and that was my point. Secret mastery books will have their own market price, and people will farm whatever mobs are the most frequent and convenient droppers, the days of hunting for *your* books outside of FM are over. And the days of never finding the book you need *in* fm probably are as well, fortunately.

So what you're saying is, rarest books will become slightly more affordable, and now, everyone is going to depend on botters' actions to generate enough Secret Mastery Books to stabilize "inflated" prices, because as we all know, botters control the Mastery Book business pre-Chaos, and will continue to do so, by this "Secret Mastery Book" logic. Except that this time, they'll be making much more profits because they won't have to worry that much about undercutting other hackers on a few previously "rare" books. So, every book will probably be in the FM, as you said, but it's ironic that it's now almost impossible to personally find the book you're wanting outside of the FM.

Sadly, Exidous, the common classes will find ALL their books inflating because the supply that these secret mastery books will provide, I cannot see being adequate.
