Corner of Woe

So without getting into great detail, I suppose I'd like to just vent here and see what replies I may get out of it. I'm a firm believer in that ideas are what make the world go 'round, so I'd like to think I'm a very open-minded person. Hence, why I may need your help.

Lately I've just been feeling a bit "under the weather" to say the least. As stated above, I won't go into detail, but it has to do with certain people in my life (or rather a lack thereof even). I feel as if I give people my all and who I really am, and I try to be as nice as possible to them, and all they wind up doing is shove trash in my face.

Do you suppose I should try and just weed out the people whom I don't find compatible with my interests and morales, or do you suppose it's fine to have some major differences and clashes? I know you won't always find people who are "perfect" with your interests, but does that mean I should have to necessarily "swoop down to their level and be their friends" just because we have a few things in common?

Thanks in advance, and apologies if this is too "LiveJournal" or blog-ish for this type of forum.

Ah, I suppose I didn't think it mattered much. If it does though, then I won't do it anymore. Thanks for the info.

It sounds like you're letting people take advantage of you; I have the same problem.

You don't need to always give people your all just so they'll like you/be your friend. Keep it within reason- avoid stretching yourself to your limits just to accommodate to another's wishes.

Learn to say no here and there when you don't want to/don't have time to do a favor. Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definately try to keep that in mind. C:

Win. This is one of my favorite quotes ever, if not THE most favorite.

If you're still in school, join a random club and meet new people. Sometimes you just have to look at something from a new angle. Keep in the good spirit of things because optimism is what gets everyone through the day. Keep doing what you're doing; don't let others get you down; and live life like you feel it should be. Hope all goes well within the near future.

I'm not in school at the moment, but aye, thank you for that very good piece of advice. I feel as if I definately let people stomp all over me/take advantage of me, so that shall have to stop. I suppose it's rather hard to do sometimes though when you always try to be the nice guy. It's not that I mind helping people when I can; in fact, I love helping people. But I suppose it can come with the territory of being used, and I have to realize that not everyone (or hardly anyone) will give two rats about me like I do about them. It's just an adjustment I guess I need to learn how to control.

I realize this entire discussion is so generic though, and for that itself, I apologize, but I'd rather not air out my dirty laundry in specifics for not only drama reasons, but security ones as well. Hehee~ x'D
