BannedStory will be back? Thanks to Nexon NA.

Korea: What the hell? Why did you put your simulator back up?
Ion: Nexon America gave me their go ahead! They talked to you!
Korea: They did? No they didn't! I'm sueing you for $1 million!
America: *Whistles*

Assuming Ion's as smart as we hope he is, he probably won't put it up unless Nexon Korea sends him a rescinded C&D.

Fiel Wrote:NexonNA won't buy BannedStory because it makes crappy business sense. Why would they put a character simulator on their website for people to try on clothes when they can do the same thing in the cash shop? The Cash Shop makes Nexon money, not BannedStory.

The only way I see BannedStory hurting Nexon's business is in that Players can make 100% sure what clothes they want instead to having to buy many sets of clothes to find out what they really want. BannedStory allows you to test looks more deeply than CS due to it having way more options and tools.

I myself think BannedStory does more good to Nexon's business than bad. People can get encouraged to charge NX and buy clothes after they know what they really want from CS (I know several people that does this, myself included). Besides, banned Story is also used alot ny players to create avatars, signatures, videos and etc, which can give the game some sort of advertising through other forums and even youtube.

I'm not talking about BannedStory's effect on Nexon's profitability. I'm talking about Nexon buying BannedStory being a bad idea. That's it.

I want to say something, even if NexonAM lifts the C&D and even if Ion gets to run Bannedstory, there is a possibility that Nexon Korea might place some restrictions for Ion. The worse case scenario could be limiting Korean extractions.

Any scenario in which the C&D is lifted is a good scenario because then he will have a set of rules with which to go by even if that means he is restricted from a few versions.

I was just able to load it up & make a character. Everything still seems to be there.

Quote:UPDATE 2:
Good News, Nexon America has answered my questions. Here is their email (their answers are in red):

First of all, I am allowed to use again the content from GMS?

Yes, you are permitted to use gMS content as long as the information isn’t used for monetary gain or to perform any actions prohibited by the EULA.

What about the other game clients? I am allowed to use them all including Korea?

Yes as long as it isn’t used for monetary gain or to perform actions prohibited by the EULA.

Would it be possible for you to create a letter in a similar fashion as the one from the Cease & Desist letter from Korea but explaining the same that appears in this email? The reason for this is to show it in my site instead of a copy/paste from this email.

The original email we sent is all we can provide at the time.

Isn't Nexon going to stablish any rules regarding the use of their name in the site and/or programs? For example, I must use their logo inside the site and/or programs.

We appreciate the usage of disclaimers that the properties used belong to Nexon and Nexon America. Placement of logos and disclaimers is up to you.

What about my advertising in the site? Although I can't control what appears in those since they are Google Ads, can I continue using them? Their income is what keeps the hosting of the site running.

Many fansites use ads so we do not have an issue with this. We would appreciate in the long run the removal of ads that violate EULA.

Can I keep developing new ideas on the programs? The last time I asked Nexon America about this they prohibited such actions.

New ideas are welcomed but we cannot assure you at this time if your new developments will comply to our copywrite or trademarks. However, if you have any concerns on what you wish to develop you can contact us. We will be more than happy to possibly provide guidance and/or support.

Yay.

That's really the only major problem here that I can see. For all we know, Nexon America is acting without any concent from Nexon Korea, and could end up biting him in the ass, as mentioned earlier in this thread. Although he can use the "They said I could do it!" excuse, it probably wouldn't work.

stupid post is stupid

Why would nexon america not talk to korea about it?! They are a video chat, email, phone call away! If anything happens to him he has proof to back that up, why would nexon just decide to go back on their word? o yea "cause its nexon" enjoy the stupid thing being back up and stop trying to find some negative bs to talk about.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but how come Nexon America helped put MapleSim back up yet they didn't allow GMS content to be on it a while back?

My guess is they didn't think the community would care/provide convincing points towards the justification of it's existence.

gMS' content has always been lackluster on BS anyways, and jMS has most of the stuff gMS has anyways.
Plus, Nexon needs it for their sh'itty AcornStory banners.
