BannedStory will be back? Thanks to Nexon NA.

As you may have already known, Nexon America is working to bring BannedStory back online. As stated on a thread in their MapleStory Forums, they are working with their global legal affairs office to lift the Cease and Desist letter and allow http://www.maplesimulator.com continue its activities the way they were before.

Today (May 31 2011), Nexon America sent me an email authorizing the restoration of MapleSimulator and BannedStory. This means that I can now put BannedStory, MapleMap and all their related content back online. Here is their email:

We’ll try to answer your questions but in the meantime you can proceed with your website activities prior to the shutdown. If we have any questions about your website and its contents, we will be in touch!

But lets not forget that there is legal action involved in this, therefore I cannot proceed if I don't have some legal resource that invalidates the C&D letter from Nexon Korea or at least a formal letter explaining that I can resume activities in MapleSimulator. Plus, they need to clear out some doubts I have regarding their lift:

1. I am allowed to use again the content from GMS?
2. What about the other game clients? I am allowed to use them all including Korea?
3. Isn't Nexon going to stablish any rules regarding the use of their name in the site and/or programs? For example, I must use their logo inside the site and/or programs.
4. What about my advertising in the site? Is it ok with them?
5. Can I keep developing new ideas on the programs?

So, essentially I am waiting for their response.

This is the kind of thing that shows Nexon NA isn't completely awful. It's actually taking action in something that matters- showing support for using their files for harmless things. Like extractions.

Wrong. He could not. The cease and desist came from Nexon of Korea. Which is a separate entity. While Nexon of America can submit formal requests to their parent company to change their mind, the call is still not NexonAM's to make. If he put it back up right now he does risk legal action at the hands of Nexon of Korea, as they own all content, including that of GMS exclusives, as it was still made and copyrighted by NexonKR.

NexonAM being on his side is definitely a good thing, but it isn't over.

Kay bud, you believe what you want. Since you're a lawyer and the leading expert on atheism and whatever else. However just in case you aren't. Nexon of Korea has allowed nothing of the sort otherwise they would have contacted him to rescind the letter.

Why would they spend money on bannedstory when Ion already does it for free?
They just need to let him use all of their stuff and add a link in their site to bannedstory.

Because if he does a great job for free, just think how better it would be if he got paid

NexonNA won't buy BannedStory because it makes crappy business sense. Why would they put a character simulator on their website for people to try on clothes when they can do the same thing in the cash shop? The Cash Shop makes Nexon money, not BannedStory.

Watch Nexon America do this just to screw him over.
