And if they did, neither Barack nor Michelle Obama would of been in debt so bad from student loans.

And by the way... all politicians are corrupt. McCain isn't the best person either.

Yep I was wrong. I didnt mean to say her family was, I meant to say she was. She worked pretty damn hard through college and towards her career and it definately paid off

That's his wife though lovey, NOT him, when he was a child & living with his parents. Yes they're married so her money is his money & vice versa but that doesn't make that "he was born into money" statement true..I mean DOES ANYBODY read books anymore?

Yes I read books..so what?

Reading books is for nerds >:-0 jk

Regardless, in spite of that short time in Congress, Obama managed to accumulate the second highest donations to members of Congress by associates of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. That’s right. He managed to collect eight times the donations from these people in less than four years than John McCain received in nearly 30 years.

Now. That’s real change.

We definitely need four years of that kind of record. Barack Obama is certainly trying to prove that the presidency of the United States can be bought.

No, the Republicans were responsible for the bill failing. 60% of the 'no' votes came from the Republican side, and 67% of all Republicans in the House vetoed the bill. Compare that to 40% of all Democrats who voted 'no' for the bill. Even in the second attempt, 54% of Republicans vetoed the bill compared to 37% of Democrats.

Also, as for your remark on China's medicine for diabetes; since when did China thoroughly test their medicine and pharmaceutical drugs? They don't.

0mgP1r4tes Wrote:And another note on Senator Biden, during the debate, he made a comment about finding out what the folks on Main Street think:

“Look, all you have to do is go down Union Street with me in Wilmington or go to Katie’s Restaurant or walk into Home Depot with me where I spend a lot of time and you ask anybody in there whether or not the economic and foreign policy of this administration has made them better off in the last eight years.”

I guess he has a time machine and can change time and space. The restraunt has been closed down for over 20 years, and it wasnt on Union Street

If Biden can lie about the silly stuff with such ease, it concerns me about what he says and promises for the real issues.
1) He says
"go down Union Street with me in Wilmington or go to Katie's Restaurant"
which doesn't in any way imply that Katie's Restaurant is on Union Street.
2) Copypasta
3) He was trying to list examples off the top of his head, and didn't bother to fact-check before blurting it out because... it's simply not that important. He could've said he went to KFC and the meaning of the sentence would've been the same.

Actually, there was a ton of people on both sides of the aisle that simply didn't vote on the bill. They're being smart and not touching this with a ten foot pole.

No, there wasn't. There was only one Republican that didn't vote in the first attempt and everyone voted in the second attempt.

O.o I was watching CNN, and there were like 100 people shown as not voting.

Your government's voting records are available to the public. You should always question what the media, and especially CNN, tell you and perhaps do your own independent research to verify or refute claims.

He didn't do much before then and already looked like a lame duck president. Not a single member of congress after September 11th even read the Patriot Act. Of course his approval rating went down after the war in Iraq because it was an unjustified war to start with for the purpose of profiteering.
"Profiteering"? I think you mean American Imperialism.

Oh and by the way: technically speaking, Palin is more qualified to be president than Obama. Seriously. Obama has got a few years on Palin, but being in the Senate is nothing like being president... at least Governor is the same sort of job as president, although on a smaller scale.

And the reason why Obama is taken so seriously isn't because he's Black and people want to pull the reverse racism out. "See? A Black man CAN be president!" No. It's because he's charismatic and good at making speeches. Personally, I don't think charisma and speaking ability are all that important to the actual job he'd be doing.

And I see some people spazzing over Palin's staunch anti-abortion ideals. Both Palin and Biden stated clearly that they intended to continue on the head of the ticket's policies. In other words, she has stated that her personal feelings on the matter won't cause her to divert away from doing things the way McCain would, and unless I'm mistaken, McCain's stance on the issue is standard fare for a Republican (that is to say, he's not a wackjob extremists like Palin herself is).

Because that's not how the world works.

That's how socialism works, but that's not how the real world works.

@Stereo regarding price gauging "because" of privatized health care: this is where regulations come in. The free market is only a bad thing if it is allowed to be.

@0mgP1r4tes: Yes, yes, we all know the economic situation is the Democrats fault moreso than Republicans (U MSUT LOAN TO EVERYONE EVEN IF THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY BACK!), but even so, there were so many points during which EITHER of them could have stepped in and stopped this pumpernickel, even like 2 years ago before this subprime bullpumpernickel even made headlines.

ps and i dont mean this to be taken seriously, but am i the only one that thinks "Obama-Biden" is dangerously close to "Osama bin Laden"? Change the 's' to an 'b', and cut out the 'n' from "bin" and the "La" from "Laden".

pps in all honesty I'm either not going to vote at all or I'm gonna go Libertarian down the board 8)

So his time spent as a civil rights attorney doesn't mean anything? I'd prefer someone who understands Americans' rights and the laws to someone who has a degree in Communication/Journalism..

I think SOME PEOPLE need to do a little studying on the topic of humor.

Incidentally, I honestly am surprised that someone with a first name of "Barrack" is actually potentially electable. Middle name is irrelevant and last name is easily written off due to the nature of surnames, but his first name is totally outta left field, apparently African in origin (rather than the typical "good Christian name")? Especially given that everyone pumpernickels bricks if a person running for President isn't a practicing Protestant? That's the crazy part in my opinion. Just the fact that his charisma and speech abilities can dig him outta that admittedly irrelevant rut is amazing.

Also notice that ties to "Hussein" are only a problem for the ignorant and blind: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hussein

Quote:So his time spent as a civil rights attorney doesn't mean anything?
That also doesn't mean a thing as far as being president is concerned. It'd be like applying for a job as a Network Administrator and telling the employer that your previous job as a stocker at Kmart gave you the necessary experience for the job. Conversely, Palin would be a person with a little experience in Network Engineering, and by the same rights, I suppose you could say McCain's analogue would be a senior position at Kmart. rofl

That's not the job of the president.

His role in signing or vetoing bills doesn't require knowledge of the law?

Biden's said he will give Obama whatever advice he thinks is necessary, I'd choose that over Palin doing whatever the hell she plans to do (has she even said? I don't think so)
