Remember megaman X5 and X6

X-4 had more quality to it, but sometimes you gotta wonder....

"WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!!!"

BHAHAHAHAHAHA the Zero cutscene when Iris dies is so hilarious.

I can't argue that my friend.

Gotta agree that X6 was horrible. It felt rushed and very poorly designed. x.x

X6 had the whole issue that it was impossible to get through the game without upgrades, which made the level design just seem terrible. Then there was the whole Zero coming back out of no where thing. X6 had good music though.

X4 is probably the best of the PSone games, but I still didn't like the fact that using a boss's weakness made the fight completely brainless. Almost every boss reeled back and then reset their attack pattern after getting hit by their weakness weapon.

I feel I might like X5 better than X4 if I played it more though.

The only people who wouldn't like X6 are causals who died 50 times during the game and are now have bruised bottoms. X5 and X6 were the two best X games after X1. X5 had throwback to the X storyline, X6 had throwback to the Nintendo Hard Megaman games.

If you want a hard Megaman game, just play the first 5 games in the X series without upgrades. They're probably harder than the classic series when you play them like that.

Even better is to get all 128 reploids in X6 without any of the suits or Zero. That freaking one in Blizzard Wolfang's stage I still hate with a passion.

You can't get through megaman X1 without the armor shoes though, it's pretty much required to get through the game.

But you gotta hand it to capcom to make a plot.

Megaman branches off to Megaman X sooner or later before Dr. Light dies, and Dr.Willy sends Zero to destroy everything.

Megaman X starts soon after Dr. Kain finds megaman and finishes his design and builds every other reploid based on Dr.Light's original design.

Zero comes into the picture soon after, infects Sigma with the Maverick Virus, then pomegranate hits the fan and everything becomes hostile and no one knows why.

Sigma then goes nuts, tries to corrupt megaman X to become the ultimate weapon under his control

Sigma gets blown up countless number of times, but survives because his data is spread through literly everything and the sigma virus is born.

Then in X5, depending on how you play, Zero could either become a Maverick again or stay the way he is if you happen to build the space ship on day 0.

The main plot in X5 which branches off to X6 requires you to beat sigma with Zero.

X6, zero's virus reawakens either way, you could save him, or leave him, doesn't matter.

If you beat sigma in X6 with Zero, it shows a epilogue with Zero going into hibernation for 100 years, which branches off into the Megaman-Zero plot.

Megaman X7 & X8 are basicly all about bad voice actors, but X7 was alright since it used elements from the Megaman legends series with 3D map movement, and not being configned to a platformer.

Capcom kinda realised after making X7 & X8 that they shouldn't make X9 because Axel pretty much fucked up the entire megaman X series.

Boost shoes shouldn't matter though. That goes from being a challenge to you to, a f'uck you to you.

7 was the worst game of them all. The camera angles where horrible, the fact that X and Axl where clones (the only real difference is that Axl had a better rapid fire and X had a charge shot) annoyed me, and I couldnt stand how the made Zero almost worthless. What's worse is that the stage design is simply irritating, and with that annoying camera you sometimes dont notice any enemies or the bottomless holes that kill you very often. That reminds me, the bossfights are annoying. Half of the bosses make annoying sounds (Flame Hyenard), or just have annoying maps and camera angles to deal with (Red).
Also, Annoying rescuable reploids. They are just annoying, but not as annoying as how X litterally gave up fighting.

I hated X6 for its horrid controls and because I felt it lacked creativity. I died simply because I activated Zero's Mid Air Up+Attack skill too many times over all the stupidly placed pits in the game. Maybe if the difficulty was a result of a real gameplay challenge rather than crappy controls, then I'd change my mind. I also had a problem with how Zero gets weaker and slower in every game. His slashing combo is just so slow in this game that it annoys me. Still, I did like the Shadow Armor or whatever it was called, but thats probably because that armor was the closest thing to playing as Zero without sucking. That brings me to my greatest disapointment with this game, X was far better at utilizing the Z-saber than Zero. Its annoying when you have another character get buffed in every game and even walk into your territory. No wonder he wanted to sleep for a few hundred years and later star in his own series.
And those god damned reploids that you needed to rescue annoyed the hell out of me. If the Zero Nightmare just touches one of them, then you need to restart the stage and the game loves to stick the nightmares right next to the reploid and in an spot where you have to be completley prepared to obliderate the Nightmare the second it pops up on the screen. Its even worse when they pop up in easy to miss areas or when there are plenty of pitfalls in the area. IIRC, one area has several Nightmares and Reploids overa giant pit. The worst part is that it isnt hard. The problem is that its unforgiving and annoying when you make one small mistake.
Edit: Meta, you are crazy to attempt such a thing, saving all those reploids without Zero or any armor.

For X5, I mostly disliked it because I didnt care for the added gameplay mechanics and aesthetics. I felt grabbing onto robes and ducking added nothing to the gameplay, and losing the ability to shoot through walls was simply lame. Aesthetics that annoyed me where the music and stupid things like the Guns and Roses paradies (was that even necessary?). I also didnt like the lack of FMVs and voices. It felt incomplete and lazy compared to 4. Also, the Armors for X where lame. You have to collect all the parts before using any part and they couldnt even charge up your special weapons. There is the exception of the Fourth/Force Armor, kept from the last game (why not keep the Golden Armor from 3? I want that one) and the Ultimate Armor, from either a cheat or a secret in the final stages. If you didnt mind these changes, then many people might prefer this game, but all these changes just grinded my gears.
But the worst part is that X starts acting like such a pansy in this game... and it becomes a plotpoint in 7.

X4... The only thing I disliked about it was the fact that the story seemed like a simple side-story and they where a bit lazy in writing X's story. But this game just felt complete. Of course it isnt perfect, but the gameplay was as good as the older games without being too complex. I event felt like using most of the special weapons in the game (unlike 6 where I just felt like being a Ninja Power Ranger). I only felt that a few skills where useless like the charged up soul body or Shippuga. Zero was especially enjoyable, because all of his skills where constantly avalible after being learned and I never had to change weapons or skills with him.

Then the last one I care to go over is X8. I liked it. It had a few flaws like Man-o-War's stage, but the game eliminated many of the flaws found in the previous games. Zero didnt completely suck and felt like a viable character. There was diversity between Axl and X. It went back to standard 2-d gameplay. It almost completely dropped X's whining about not wanting to fight - This is good because I bought the game for X to fight, not sit on the sidelines like a pansy. I can even use X's armor before finding all the parts again, and I can even mix and match parts. I just wish the character models didnt suck. I'd actually prefer X7's models for this game, minus Zero's banana hair (This was probably the only thing X7 did right). Although, I didnt care for the navigators, they didnt add much. The variable weapons for Zero didnt add much either; I just used the Z-Saber. Then I didnt care for Ultimate Armors, the Sigma Blade and Team Attacks. I just never was a fan of over powered things in these types of games. They just kill the challenge, but at least the Armors and the Sigma Blade are earned only after beating the game.
But the worst part about X8 is that Capcom finally released a MMX game that I enjoyed and they havent made a sequal to the series since. I guess I can only home that they revisit the series after a several year Hiatus, like with the original series and legends.

Edit: I need to work on my paragraph structure. This rant is a mess.
