Tournament of Picks
MAIN BRACKET:
Tales of the Abyss - Meaning Of Birth

LOSER'S BRACKET:
Lufia OST - The One Who Saves The World

Lufia and Tales of the Abyss should be in the finals >_> Since everyone picks Lufia over everything else.

Everyone also picked the Lia song over everything else. That's why it IS in the finals. <_<

As for my votes, I'm going with:

MAIN BRACKET:
Lia - Toki wo Kizamu Uta

LOSER'S BRACKET:
Lufia OST - The One Who Saves The World

This, but I'm really disappointed in the songs that made it into the finals. I guess my musical taste doesn't gel with the norm around here.

I know, but it bugs me. Clannad sucks, I never liked the show. But that is subject to opinion.

Main:

Will have to relisten for Losers, since I never got around to doing so for semis... may or may not even do so. :x

No new votes since New Year's Eve tells me that people are losing interest, and the votes are extremely one-sided, so I'm going to end it here. Our winner, with a victory of 6-1 in the finals, is Lia - Toki wo Kizamu Uta, submitted by xBTA! Congratulations to you, sir. And not people cared as much about it, but the winner of the loser's bracket with a victory of 5-0 was Lufia OST - The One Who Saves The World, submitted by none other than me. And that makes this my first victory ever, even in the loser's bracket (I've participated in 4 or 5 of these on another forum). Yaaaay.

I'll edit the first post with the list of who submitted what, if people are curious. And now, the big question: did people enjoy this and should we do it again?

I enjoyed it, but it does drag on a bit. Perhaps running more than one game at once, or dividing it into specific categories to help spur interest would help?

The problem I have with specific categories is that the point of this is to not box people in. You're supposed to submit two of your favorite songs, not two of your favorite songs from a specific genre. What if it were, say, a tournament of rap picks? I for one can't stand rap (unless it's done by Weird Al, I suppose, so bad example Rolleyes), so what (other than submit Weird Al) would I do? Diversity in songs makes it interesting, and it's also why we need diversity (and numbers) in voters.

You don't have to specify the categories to that extent. For example, you could have one instrumental, one with lyrics, or something like that. Just a way of making the matchups a bit more like vs like. Maybe it was just me, but if there was one thing I found offputting, it was the match ups between those with and without singing. While I can understand favorites vs favorites, it's a lot harder to compare something with someone singing to something with just a melody.

I didn't participate, but I enjoyed checking the tournament and people's submissions, lol.

I enjoyed this as for listening for songs but I feel it did drag on a bit too much.

Perhaps not making the loser's bracket would make things faster or perhaps limit to 1 song per person.

Yay~

Now that we're done, I can say this...

This was fun, so I'm giving it a try at my DFO forum. I like SSA's musical taste a lot better than SP's. Rolleyes You can check the song list here if you're interested.
