Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule

BB makes leveling extremely easy. Easy enough to warrant my return. As if that wasn't enough, it also creates many new training spots.

Pray tell, what does it break?

Training IS the only thing to do in MapleStory.

The only thing I can do besides train is boss and talk to my friends. I'd like to see the patch that expidites or retards social communication, so unless you have some bossing relevant things it "breaks," I'll consider this a victory for supporters of BB.

Ellinia, El Nath, Sleepywood, Mushmoms, Kerning, and thats pretty much about it on my perspective. Everything else is good. (EXCEPT MECHANICS.)

Pft, like anyone actually cares about the design of a game, that is just silly!

I care about the design and it's one of the main reasons I hate Big Bang.

Without knowing exactly what you mean, I can already tell you I probably won't care enough about those supposed "breaks" and they definitely won't come anywhere near making me sad as the prospect of getting a character to 100 in 10 days makes me very happy.

But please, go ahead and explain what you two meant.

Have you seen some of the new towns? It's like Master Roshi did his fart bomb attack on them

The design of many Victoria Island towns is horrid. But that is only one reason, there are others. But if you only care about leveling then there is no point in telling them to you.

Horrid how...?

I feel like you think that I'm somehow wrong for only caring about leveling. Who cares if they look worse? Honestly, you're nitpicking for no reason. You get so much good for such little "bad."

Well thing is it's all point of view. Leveling up is a great thing to call people back and it has. As well as many other changes. Me for one has loved MS for its sense of adventure. I lost that in BB. I do like how questing can finally become a leveling option now which makes me happy. I like that anyone can now take on bosses, thats a plus. Theres many other pluses but the thing that really keeps me from falling in love with BB is the overall map change outs. Some are terrible, some make sense and are beautiful, and some are just good, they aren't bad but not perfect. It's all matter of prospective, if you like BB for the leveling hey more power to ya.

No, I didn't say that. But you're wrong in thinking better leveling is so much good it outweighs the bad.

I do and others do.

I could say that making better leveling out to be a massive improvement to the game that is so good and wonderful and great to be nitpicking as well.

Mike the more things change, the more things stay the same.

You guys act like you didn't see this coming. Maplestory wasn't going to stay the same forever, I think we all knew that.

Leveling up is the central focus of the game. Squirm as much as you like, it's true. You play to level; you may not ONLY play to level, and you may care about other things, but the game itself is about training.

The art and map design are peripheral aspects meant to break up the pace. I'm sure the art directors and designers are pleased that you enjoyed their previous incarnations of the map models, but new models having aesthetically displeasing designs DOES NOT negate the rest of big bang. It's such a minuscule factor that I'm taking it out of the equation entirely, ignoring the subjectivity, and making the entire thing objectively biased.

Honestly, this entire argument is insane to me. You're upset because maps are ugly, and that somehow outweighs the AMAZING increase to leveling speed, three new classes, a bunch of new maps, an great revamps to the old classes (I really want to make a paladin even if mechanics are OP as hell).

There, I've ended the argument.

You Lie. 5 Years. 1 Main. Level 130. Mostly a Loner. Minimal Inactivity. Still found things to do.

There are many aspects to the game other than leveling. Questing, Exploration, Collection, Party Quests, Aspiration to next equipment set (granted this is dependent on leveling){which is more or less dead now anyway thanks to common equips/potential}, and Social interactions are some. The primary problem is that NEXON kept promoting stat-whoreism to the point where people started believing that was in fact the purpose of the game and rushing past a majority of the "content" that was developed for the game for the sake of power. This has been a lingering issue for too long so now everyone just believes it as a fact that to do anything in game you have to be 140+.

BB only gives us further cause to believe in this misconception as it only aids in rushing people to the end. I have yet to experience it myself, but beyond the maps, from what I've heard they've left holes in the quests and didn't take the opportunity to revamp the "Maple World" to coincide with these changes. Since it would be too much work to re-do the entire lineage of quests since the origin of the game or even the monster book, they just decide not to.

To me that isn't professional. That isn't even a game anymore.
"Hey, if you keep pressing this button over and over again for a few years, you'll get to see bigger numbers next to a prettier picture!" If I want art, I'll find it online. If I want big numbers, I'll use a calculator. When I play a game, I want an engaging environment with a decent back-story. It being an MMO takes away some of expectation, but there is still some.

Going back on what I said earlier though, my complaints are going off of hand-me-down information. I'd love to be proven wrong.

EDIT: And no, having expectations from an RPG does not make us Heny Hoes.

Horrid as in, "they moved things around without fixing the graphics and now there are a bunch of visual problems in every town".

Horrid as in, "they moved all the job advancement NPCs farther from town, and united the class-distinct gates of dimension into a single one in Balrog's chamber".

They moved the towns closer together, so now the majority of maps on Victoria island are not between towns - they're on stubs that shoot out of the towns in random directions and don't go anywhere. If you're exploring Victoria, you don't end up at another town - you end up at a dead end, and have to walk back through the 10-15 maps you just visited.

Instead of going to the top of Ellinia to get on the boats to Ereve and Orbis, you have to go 4 maps outside any town. Instead of the portal to Leafre being in the map outside Ellinia, it's about 6 maps away, at the top of the tree that grew. They made navigation easier for people who can't afford the taxis, but made everything else, that can't be reached by taxi, much harder to get to. One step forward, 3 steps back...

In kMS all quests were reset to some degeree to my knowledge, so the quest part may be irrelevant. IE, people had to redo Alcaster's rock quest because it was redone.

The new town designs aint even that bad, they are just different... The only thing that gets ruined is the monsterbook, everything else is just a little changed. I wish they would have taken the opportunity to fix the story and make it more consistent and dynamic, but hey, that was never a priority to the Nexon branches.
