Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - SaptaZapta - 2010-12-02 Nexon scaring us with "T minus 6 days till impact"... JMS reporting SP reset mess-ups... Tespia reporting disconnects and "gm police" autobans... Monster book going away... Maps, mobs, items changing... Is there a way to prepare for the anticipated bugs, glitches, exploits, abuses, rollbacks, and other possible disasters that might hit us on the 7th? How do we preserve whatever fond memories we have of classic Maple? In short, anything we should do now so that we don't end up with "drat, should have done this before BB"? Here are some things I have thought of and am doing, I'd welcome anyone else's addition. Documentation: - Screenshots of Skill Inventory. This is most important, in my mind, because we know KMS had problems with the SP resets, and our Tespia never checked that function. Make sure it's clear how many points you have in each skill, how many free SP (per advancement, if relevant), and what a skill's max is (if not clear from the number of points in it). This is especially important for classes that get skill points from books or quests, not just level-up. Just in case you have to submit a ticket. - Screenshots of Monster Book, if you care about it. Took mine before visiting Ulu and getting it messed up, but even now is better than not at all. At least you have the right monsters, just the numbers of cards are wrong. - Screenshots of Quest lists, if you care about such things. If you're not much of a quester, just document whatever important quests you did do and don't want to have to do again, such as Alcaster's Rocks/All-Cures quest, the Phantom Seed quest (for buying Ciders and NLC scrolls), Pap/Zak/Scar/CWK pre-quests, etc. Reports on whether these are reset are contradictory, and these screenshots probably won't help anyway (would take less time to redo even the entire Book of Ancient chain than to wait for Nexon to act on a ticket), but they can't hurt, right? - Screenshots/video the following types of items. Don't forget mules, storage and mts! --- Skillbooks and Mastery Books, especially of skills that will change --- Items with Potential (especially crit?) - Screenshot/video of whatever "way of life" or "playstyle" or "landmarks" you want to remember. Personal examples: --- Mushie mini-dungeon. Spent many hours farming event items there (maple leaves, snow pieces, dark tokens), besides training low-level chars. That dungeon is going away. And while we're at it, Zombie Mushmom's dark, dank cave... she's moving out in the open now... and getting nerfed as well. --- Hero killing Bigfoot. Not that I did too much of it, never enjoyed it, but it's still a hallmark of pre-bb Maple that is going away. Going by Tespia stats, Bigfoot is no longer either challenging or rewarding. This also serves as a record of Brandish (before Intrepid Slash replaces it) and the current form of Enrage (gets drastically changed). --- Bishop training at Skeles with Genesis. So boringly common now, going away forever in a week. Supplies: - Place some meso and backup equips on mule accounts. Consider the possibility of your main getting auto-banned, hellbanned, or otherwise unplayable for a period. - If your class requires summoning rocks to train, lay in a good supply. - Move Storybooks, and any other item whose function is disappearing, to a character you don't mind getting glitched. Or just drop them, if you're not a packrat like myself. As far as I know nothing is removed from the data, so having these things shouldn't hurt anything but your inventory space, but still, better safe than sorry. - Leave room in your inventory for SP resets. It should be a lightbulb quest that doesn't go away until you make room and get the scroll, but, as usual, better safe than sorry. (Thanks to Loose) - Prepare items needed for quests you might have to repeat. --- For Alcaster's quest: ----- A bunch of Orbis Tower scrolls for ease of travelling. You have to do a lot of Orbis<->Nath. ----- 100 star pixies starpieces, 50 lunar pixie moonpieces, 30 luster pixie sunpieces; 80 hector tails and 80 white fang tails; 3 werewolf toenails. The quantities *may* have been reduced after BB, I don't remember. ----- 2 each of Power/DEX/Wisdom/LUK crystals, 1 Dark Crystal and 1 Star Rock (personally I'd just get the refined jewels for making a Star Rock, since if I don't have to repeat the quest I will have no use for a Star Rock). --- For Zakum Pre-Quests: ------ Hector tails (not sure how many? anyway, thank goodness it's not Zombie's Gold Teeth anymore) --- For Papulatus Pre-Quests: ------ Can't, all the powders and tachyons and pieces of crack are quest items. They won't drop until you reinitiate the quest (if you have to). --- For Scarlion/Targar Pre-Quests: ------ 100 lucky bus tickets, 200 vikerola helmets, 200 toy planes, 200 wooden pony tails, 10 rodeo master. You'll still have to kill a couple hundred of each mob, though. When the Alarm Sounds: - Before the patch, move characters to town. Not sure what happens to chars in maps that get removed, might as well not rely on Nexon to transport them somewhere safe. - Avoid using Duey shortly before the patch, and claim whatever you have waiting there. Other: - Use up your rep. Party 2x is going away with BB, unless something changes between Tespia and GMS, and personal exp buff is just 1.2x. Might as well use or sell your party 2x while it's still usable. - Bishops, complete the Bahamut quest (as many times as it takes to get its max level to 30). It becomes a Mastery-book skill after BB, you don't want to have to hunt those down or buy them at unpredictable drop rates and prices. (Thanks to Thorr) Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - FanaticRat - 2010-12-02 I figure this is as good a time as any to do the quest to get Hypnotize on my Sair. Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - Thorr - 2010-12-02 I recommend that Bishops do their Bahamut quests now since the skill is changed to a Mastery Book skill. You might as well avoid needing the books while you can! Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - Satellite - 2010-12-02 Can some1 tell me what the sp reset bug was like? I think I missed that back then :/ Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - SaptaZapta - 2010-12-02 http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=34789&p=582918&viewfull=1#post582918 Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - OB3LISK - 2010-12-02 Take a screenshot of all your equips@@@. Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - ZakumSlaYers - 2010-12-02 You sounded like Nexon are ought to get everything messed up badly

Even bigger considering the amount that's changing with this patch. Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - MissingLink - 2010-12-02 SaptaZapta Wrote:- Use up your rep. Rep will still be useful for moving characters around. Otherwise good ideas. Also Log in only on noob characters first (mainly for the ring event) until dust settles and others have discoverd if there are serious problems. Edit removed (misunderstood post in Tespia thread) Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - SwordStaker - 2010-12-02 I sense pretentiousness. Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - Mike - 2010-12-02 Wait a few days then play. Better yet, play on a minor character on the first day. C'mon... things won't be that bad, right? Uh, right? Sounds like a good idea, man. Thanks for the suggestions. Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - kremechoko - 2010-12-02 All quests get reset You are transported to the nearest town (that's what happened to me when I left my char in the slime tree) If you don't leave space for skill resets, all you have to do is relog or talk to cassandra (?) Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - SaptaZapta - 2010-12-02 Ring event is problematic. Are we quite certain the rings will be fully tradeable at the end? If not, we need to do it on main, with all the risks that entails. Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - MetaSeraphim - 2010-12-02 I already did this a month ahead of time, no worries from me. I just regret that I couldn't get screenshots of job skill quests. (2 STR/DEX/LUK/WISDOM crystal and 1 Dark for Alcaster, Phantom Seeds for Mo, Hector tails for Zakum, a whole bunch of Malaysia etc's for Scarlion/Targa, what else?) Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - KhainiWest - 2010-12-02 This thread is helpful yet scary at the same time. I never noticed till I had the ring on and wanted to check stats. Edit, looked through more of my ss's: I did get a few drops that were potential while I was walking around so it still exist[s], I think they just didn't copy it when they copied characters the first time. I never bothered to pay attention during the Visitor's Tespia if this was the same. >_>; Preparing a disaster kit and time capsule - SaptaZapta - 2010-12-02 Katforks Wrote:It wasn't when I equipped the ring, it was that it was gone to start with. Yes, potential gear does drop in Tespia. I sincerely hope that your gear losing its potential bonuses was some problem with the copying process back in the previous round, and will not affect us in GMS (since characters are not copied, just stay). Otherwise.... |
