Does reinstalling my computer delete a virus for good? I performed a "factory image" recovery on my computer because I got infected with a virus that wouldn't let me open anti-virus programs. The restore program appearantly restores my C drive back to the state it was when I first opened the computer. I also have a D drive that is designated as "recovery." :x I hope the D drive wasn't infected. >__>

Generally a complete reimage will undo anything as long as you don't re-infect. For example if you immediately redownload whatever brought the virus in the first place.

damit eos! i was going to say this... if i saw this thread earlier...
Performing a clean OS installation (image) will basically...delete EVERYTHING that is on the computer and put on a clean version of the operating system.

You could also try other things like safe mode or kill the process with task manager soon as you boot up. There's also renaming the folder that the exe is in so it can't launch. It tends to vary with each one but I find those work well.
