Reinstalling Computer Kills Virus? - Goals - 2010-08-07 Does reinstalling my computer delete a virus for good? I performed a "factory image" recovery on my computer because I got infected with a virus that wouldn't let me open anti-virus programs. The restore program appearantly restores my C drive back to the state it was when I first opened the computer. Performing a clean OS installation (image) will basically...delete EVERYTHING that is on the computer and put on a clean version of the operating system. There's also renaming the folder that the exe is in so it can't launch. It tends to vary with each one but I find those work well. |
