Being short and doing gymnastics is a huge bonus. I had to stop taking gymnastics when I hit 5'5. They told me I was getting to tall.
I missed the closing ceremonies. I was on vacation and was on the boat when they were happening. I'm kinda bummed about it.

eeee, i already miss the Olympics.
i didn't watch alot of it; i mostly looked out for gymnastics & swimming, but i happened to catch track & field (which i used to do before i got really bad cramps from running), sync. diving & reg diving and so many other sports. it just all blew my mind what with the triumphs and the injuries & it's such a bittersweet ending. i really can't wait another 4 years, but i'm hoping it'll be more fantastic than this and as awesome as ever.

Yes, Winter Olympics are in 2010 in Vancouver, Canada.
Olympics always alternate, every 2 years.

I would get 10 gold medals on the olympics if there weren't 3 billion people better than me.

ClawofBeta Wrote:...Ah... Based on that and the other replies, I'm guessing the NBC broadcasted a whole bunch of her while the non-american channels didn't care, since I've never heard of her. This is probably particularly true outside of China/Romania/US, since they're the perennial gymnastics powerhouses... And with a name like Shawn, you can't really blame me for thinking it's a guy... I've never heard of a female Shawn before. Is that somewhat of a normal female name or are her parents just weird? :-P

Doesn't anyone else think the unisex names are lovely? Jordan, Taylor, Cameron... and Shawn... My country doesn't even have an Olympic gymnastics team, and I certainly don't listen to American radio stations. But I knew of, and admired, Shawn Johnson. I'm not even into gymnastics all that much. (EDIT: I'm in ClawofBeta's situation here.) |
