The new one supposedly works by tricking tatamo into thinking you're giving him -2.8k manon tails then receiving the manon tails and NPCing them. Try not to sell highly-priced items in the FM until this is fixed ><
So are you saying that NEXON had the audacity to not put a failsafe with the minus sign to prevent this from happening? GG.

I'm honestly surprised it took them this long to get the new exploit up and running.
First thing I thought of when I heard how the last exploit worked was what other npcs use a similar function.
Thanks for the heads-up --- shop is not going up tonight.

Fun, I just heard the same thing.
As for my situation, I'm glad i'm only losing up to 900mil if they leave my items intact. Though I have a habit of screenshoting my sales history, and only 1 person is also offranks, which translates to abotu ~150mil. By nexon's logic if everyone handling illegit mesos was blocked, then this is the only amount that I should lose.
Hopefully )=

Of course they did, it's client sided... if you send bad packets they need server side checks. Which is probably what they're feverishly adding...
If you'd just been able to donate negative amounts to Chief Tatamo, people would have most likely noticed a long time ago. :x

You get hellbanned as soon as your come in contact with exploited mesos. The fix is removing the exploited mesos from the ones hellbanned. I dont know about the items they lost thou

If they can identify what mesos came from where so easily and can track the transactions well enough to ban/hellban people in contact with these meso, I dont see why they cant reverse the transactions for people who got screwed by people buying their items in FM with the hacked meso so that you arent affected so much. Im going to be at least 1.1bil out of pocket because of this meso deletion which is a hell of a lot of money to me, and it was through no fault of my own either which is the real kicker.
Im going to be really suprised if this 'compensation' will be anymore than 10k maple points too. Also pissed off at the total waste of a mushroom store too.
@Chameleomnic: You and others of your ilk were banned for mass buying chaos scrolls when it was clearly obvious that they were being obtained through less than legitimate means. Theyve permabanned the meso hackers too; those of us who are being unfairly tradeblocked because of having the audacity to sell items in FM through mushroom stores deserve far more than Nexon's definition of 'compensation'

We wanted to provide a strong reminder to our players to please avoid interacting with others who may be using this exploit, and definitely please avoid attempting the exploit yourself. We are working on addressing this issue, and we're also able to track the exploit. Accounts that are intentionally using the exploit will be suspended or possibly banned. As we've said before, there's no such thing as a free lunch, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Once again, thank you as we work on keeping MapleStory safe for all.

Or, Free Mesos from Crimsonwood exchange. I hope they actually look into every possible exploit this time around.

I can see it happening at Alcaster, but CWK exchange doesn't let you enter a number so probably no go there.

There's an exchange made at Alcaster though. In order to receive something you have to give something.
The other exploits worked off the idea that you are donating, a something for nothing exchange. Reversing it made it a you got something and gave nothing exchange.
I can't think of any other instances where this would work but I'm also not big into quests and can see one popping up somewhere.

But if you buy -2.8k allcures, that would mean paying alcaster -1.4mil, so I guess it could work, it'd just be quite slow since the nearest store is a few steps away.

But you have to do a long quest in order to buy from allcaster. I don't see hackers leveling a character then doing that tedious quest.

Wouldn't the game try to take back the all-cures and then when there were none it would null the transaction. Same way if you don't have mesos to buy something it nulls the transaction?
Otherwise this would work at any shop npc right? Unless it's a different set of rules once you actually open the shop or something.I'm not entirely versed on the programming side of any of this so it's pure speculation from my end.
That's why I figured a negative donation end result is you receiving something for nothing. A negative transaction, end result is the transaction in reverse (instead of buying all-cures from Alcaster he buys them from you).

Yeah, Alcaster's thing is entirely different.
You need an NPC that takes a quantity of items/mesos and doesn't give you anything, like Tatamo. Or the Maple Admin sometimes. (give me 300 cakes? ok)

It depends on how they coded it obviously. If they don't even perform boundary checks like negative numbers they're probably shoddy with other checks too.
Take input from player = x
Check if player has more than x * allcure price mesos if not then stop transaction
take away x * allcure price mesos from player
give player x allcures
If you enter a negative number for x it'd pass the meso check. If there's no second check when giving all cures (and why would you 'cause its giving not taking), it could just fail silently on the giving part.
