Gen 5 rumor mill thread
TøbiasBlack Wrote:what would that be weak to though, flying and ground comes to mind first and foremost. theres earthquake, aerial ace, those two moves could spell its downfall. poison would also work well against it due to grass' weakness to poison. bug/water/ice weaknesses are halved due to its dual typing. any others im missing?

Weaknesses: 1/2 Flying, Poison, Rock
Resistances: 1/2 Electric, Bug, 1/4 Grass

Weakness to Rock sucks, but no one cares about Flying and Poison weaknesses. Electric resistance is nice, and the Bug and Grass resistances aren't terrible.

STAB Coverage:
Super - Water, Ground, Rock, Steel, Bug, Ice, Grass
Neutral - Normal, Flying, Fighting, Ghost, Psychic, Dark, Poison, Electric
Resisted - Dragon, Fire

The only Pokemon that currently resist the combination are Giratina, Moltres, Ho-Oh, Blaziken, Infernape, Heatran, Houndoom, Houndour, Latios, and Latias.

There was a fire/grass type made in Create-a-Pokemon, let me go check how well it did.

I would like to see you being able to actually see the sprites of the individual Pokemon you're surfing/flying on T.T.

Oh, and please give Flygon either Dragon Dance or Swords Dance. Please.

EDIT : Yeah, like you said, fire/grass is a good defensive combination, and its base stats were assigned as such. Think Hippowdon, but with higher stats all around. The type combination has been proven to work, at least.

They didn't make the overworld sprite idea follow up into Black and White, from what we know so far. I doubt they'll have this any time soon.

What I don't get is why they add something like PokeAtholon for just 1 game. "Here's this new mini-game system we added to the game. I guess we'll throw the idea out in the next game."

It won't work the same without overworld sprites. They could probably work battle sprites into it somehow but then that'd look silly.

Posting this in rumors, because it's obviously fake but I'd like the idea of more mature protagonists. It won't really happen, but it's a nice thought.

You know what I really liked though? Back in Red/Blue/Yellow/Green, when your rival's sprite actually changed at different points in the game to be more mature. I thought that was a pretty nice effect, made you feel as if you were journeying with your companions for a long time. A lot of hard work went into getting to that point, and it makes Oak's comment of "you've really grown into a great trainer from when I first met you" or something like that, have more meaning to it. I don't really know why they didn't really use that idea again. Instead you have that wimpy rival and D/P/Pt who never changes and almost took the "strongest in game trainer" title from Red.

Here's what Spidey was talking about. All of your rivals change sprites (aside from Wally, and Silver in HG/SS); but in R/B/Y/G, his look changes drastically to show how much more he matures through the game. I didn't notice it before, because as a kid, I used my imagination to fill him in as the Gary Oak from the anime because the graphics weren't exactly so great so I didn't pick this up very well and the poses were what really struck me before just on the grounds of seeming more "epic" at the very end when he became the champion, but I've decided to rethink this. In my opinion, the idea worked there- and there alone; but I still think it should have happened in FR/LG. This guy was a truly good rival in comparison to wimps like Wally and that Barry scrub who almost stole that title from Red. What I like is that he's been there since the very, very beginning of the game and from what the instruction booklet says; even before the beginning of the game- and that he's always there on your journey, and the fact his sprite shows him maturing really helps that- it seem like I was journeying with my Pokemon for a long time, and that I've been against going against that rival for so long. When I saw my rival who I'd known for so long through that neat visual effect as the champion I'd have to go against to beat the game, it felt like it really boiled down to that moment, and it was just amazing. I thought Silver was a pretty cool rival too; I liked how he was always there to seem strong and always be there to go against you, but no matter how hard he tried, his ways would never triumph- but I don't think the aging idea would have worked quite as well there. The trainer you didn't choose in and Wally S/R/E didn't quite have any feeling at all for me; and with Barry, I was thinking that he was just there to be annoying; aging wouldn't really do so much there at all.

I hope the rival in this game is a good one, but I'm pretty doubtful after the past games that weren't remakes.

Ah, and I was lurking /v/ last night and saw someone bring up the idea of romancing certain trainers and gym leaders in Pokemon Black and White; but I'm sure it was just a "what if" or just plain a hoax. What do you guys think about that?

Considering the fact many people hate the concept of shipping, I don't think that would go down well.

eh, i could see how it'd work. you beat the gym leader, then later on (s)he offers to trade you one of their pokemon. or something along the lines of the anime, where you meet someone that turns out to be a gym leader, and they fall for the main character for one reason or another, and throughout the journey give the trainer useful tips, items, or helps them out. Cynthia fits this example with D/P/Pt when she gives you the medicine for the psyducks outside of solaceon town.

Remove Pokemon following you to have a GYM LEADER follow you?

You total a random strangers bike, and her sprite follows you all the way till the end. <- Should of totally had that in yellow LOL

Most of those CAP are pretty awesome looking. I didn't think Fire/Grass could mesh together that well, but was mistaken.

I'd like to see Eevee have the ability to learn nasty plot, as well as other moves that don't bone its entire (decent) evolutionary line because they evolve from eevee.

A Flare Blitz for every Flareon!
