King Wrote:I hope u guys get banned forever u dam hacker supporters If you look around you, you may realise that had nexon taken proper security approaches, these things would not happen in the first place. Secondly, had they invested properly into their GMs, the amount of remorses and frustration would have been lessen alot. Thirdly, if they have proper punishments for hackers, it will deter future attempts. Right now, a legit stands to lose much more than a hacker due to a ban. Nexon's banning mechanic is nothing less of a monkey pressing random keys. The lack of authoritive actions/reactions should be instigated rather than what players do.

fucken nexon dont care about players as long as they have money keep coming in.

bacon, i didnt even know it was a glitch. I saw a smega when i was leeching my character. Went to see if it was true and this store had many chaos for 20m ~ 7m. All i did was buy the whole stock. i did nothing wrong! i had the meso to buy it.
i transferred my scrolls to other acc cause i saw a server check message. u see if nexon said something like "dont buy the scroll you get ban" than i wouldnt have bought any but nexon didnt say anything.

You don't need to try and justify yourself. Ignorance isn't an excuse, especially if you have common sense.

I have the money to buy an entire family of Africans and use them as footstools but it doesn't mean I should. I hate to see Bacon getting so worked up over this, it somehow gives off an unprofessional vibe. Pathetic excuses are pathetic and should be left as are.

Bacon please don't be a jerk especially if you have nothing constructive to add. You need to learn to have a little empathy even if you don't agree with someones decisions, or just keep your mouth shut. No one will ever listen to what you have to say or take you serious if you don't learn how to communicate with respect.

Your comparing things that don't even come close to the chaos dupe profit margin Why wouldn't you get banned? Your gaining off hackers. Merchants already sitting on a pile of mesos if they able to buy 100+ chaos. They don't have intentions on selling chaos as cheap as the hackers, their going to gain a bigger profit. So in a sense you are hacking too without using the tool, gaining a greater advantage over players. Player 1:I hack, i make more mesos than u, player 2:i don't hack but i have the mesos to make more mesos than you. player 3:i'm to poor to gain from this Dark tokens wasn't a hack it was a glitch on nexon part, the tokens were not nexon intentions to give others an advantage over others. Chaos scroll duping main focus advantage over others. Merchants couldn't profit from dark tokens as much as chaos scrolls. Unless the merchant had a bishop on hand and patience to farm tokens they might have made a small profit. Also only a few was able to gain from the dark token glitch for only 2hrs i think then nexon fixed it. 60% scrolls and black crystals is not damaging the economy. Black crystals are scarce and the summon bag hack help put more balance furry on the market and should have raised the prices of tao's again. Also who uses 60% for weapons now? its either 30%,10%, 50% Plus those 60% those merchants have are not selling as fast as chaos scrolls would When pe first came out nexon perma banned people for that major hack. I think they even removed a few items that were packet edited in to the game

Hope4 Wrote:LOL why would anyone think they were gonna get banned? This^ You can't really complain now since it *is* against the rules and all that. But honestly, banning does seem a little harsh. These people were doing the wrong thing but they weren't hackers. Why not just delete the scrolls from their inventory and let them live with the loss of their mesos/ NX? street Wrote:60% scrolls and black crystals is not damaging the economy. Profiting off hacked items is profiting off hacked items, it's not "Ok" with certain items and bad with others.

Just like you're saying balanced furies are rare, chaos scrolls were rare as well! Hackers were helping put more into the market, which is obv a good thing. And 60%s had a huge impact on the economy lol; 60%s scrolls became ~twice as cheap after the black sack hack. Good for the hackers who have lots of 60%s; horrible for anyone who invested in 60%s earlier.

Hacking has in general been a problem in MapleStory, and whether you believe it or not, you have profitted from it. Money is flowing through the veins of hackers and out their asses, usually turning the value of mesos down. This means you will end up selling items worth anything for a higher price than you usually would. This seems to be somewhat more accepted, as the tax and the increase of money implies that other items you need to play, such as scrolls and weapons, will also increase proportionally in price. However, the price of stuff with a constant value sold in NPC-stores, mainly potions and attack potions will be easier to gain, which implies that you're gaining off hackers.
There are several reasons why and why not one should be banned for "abusing" the hacking-issue that has happened lately. People might use the argument above, but it's obvious that the scale of this hacking is way higher than the "normal" hacking. Using that argument would only turn into a discussion about where one "cross the line", and there would be some sort of polarization: One group saying that the paragraph above is taking advantage of hacking, and that either everyone in-game should be banned or noone. The other group says that the scale of the current hacking is way higher than the average hacking, and that the average hacking would not really result in a more profitable gain for anyone more than others, and so forth. Looking at it from that side, I'm leaning towards the scale-group: It seems more obvious that normal hacking wouldn't be stopped: This hack would, and therefore, stocking up on chaos scroll will yield a profit in the end. Others might also try the legitimate vs. hacked-item theory: I know this item is not a hacked one, so it's not an issue to buy this item. While it might sound as a reasonable argument to buy the item, there is one question that must be answered before this is considered okay: Was the price of the item lowered due to the hackings? If it were, then you have gained a significant advantage through this hack indirectly, regardless of whether the item was hacked or not. Therefore, one might argue with that this is not a good enough argument too. Anoher relatively good argument to not ban people is the "quitter-argument": What about a person that has stopped playing maplestory and came back just during this hacking and bought these items? They would certainly not know that this hacking had taken place! As of now, I can't see an argument that says these people should be banned, apart from the fact that they gain an advantage over other people if only these people does not get banned by this. The problem is that this is unintended, and there should not be any reason to give these players some sort of punishment because they did this. A proposal is that they get rollback'd or get their chaos scrolls removed in return for the money they used on them, while others get banned. But I'm afraid I'm against banning in general, no matter what you guys say, or what I consider to be the best thing to do or not. It's not because it's wrong to ban the ones who abuse this, but because Nexon is unable to ban the right people, the wrong people, and distinguish people at all. They cannot search up who's gained this and that (and if they do, then they're horrible at it), they ban the wrong people, and so forth. It's not something we can deal with, sadly. The best thing that could have happened would be the following:

Devil's Sunrise Wrote:The best thing that could have happened would be the following:I agree with this mostly. I can't possibly argue that the people who were involved with this are totally innocent, but I do think a permanent ban is too extreme a punishment, especially since most of the people I know that got banned weren't buying with the intent to resell. This is far and away the most extreme punishment they've had for any kind of in-game abuse. I don't have a direct problem with Nexon wanting to take their punishment up a few notches, but going into the nearest county jail and shooting everyone who committed a felony isn't the way to go about it. Besides, it's not like a ban would even stop the people who did the whole thing to begin with.

I have a question for everyone. When you saw smegas selling 100+ chaos for 10m each did you see them as hackers or merchants/legit?
You don't know how they got the scrolls what category your going to put them in? Are they the hackers that are exploting? can nexon sepreate who is who that easily? Their was people that had 10 duped chaos left. Were they hackers that were trying to liquidate all the chaos before they get banned? Would you have been able to know who to ban looking at the situation in that perspective? Some accounts got under the radar nexon did a sloppy job picking out who is who. That person they left or banned that had 10 scrolls left could have been a hacker. That person could just be someone really rich. Who knows, nexon was not going to look at each account and do a detail investigation. Plus if they did that people would complain nexon is doing a lost cause to sith through legit from hackers. Cause that person they banned might have been really a hacker, then they will say they were wrongfully banned and back to square one. @devilsunrise if nexon had link accounts that was used to exploit people would still say they were wrongfully banned. Those hackers could be 'legit' the 14 day log wouldnt help this situation. In that time period the chaos scrolls I have gained would already been sold. If nexon had ban people looking at how many dupe chaos scrolls the sold in that period it would have been far worst than the actions they took. So what if I Lose a couple of 100 scrolls leftover I sold over 300+ in Mts and game. When my temp ban is up I will have been 2b+ richer and got away without losing anything major. If they are able to keep their profit who would care about losing a few. @flim what server are you in?

If it wasn't for people actually buying the Chaos scrolls the glitch would STILL be going on and people would just be scrolling items like crazy in strad of no one not buying them, your logic is pretty stupid...If peopel bought Chaos Scrolls through MTS or shops they deserve to be PERM-BANNED? Yeah, no that's not the correct way a company should hadle THERE mistakes of horrible security...I mean come on we ( and thousands of other people ) do not deserve to be PERM-BANNED for this at most just erase the chaos scrolls he have gotten and maybe a 1-3 month ban for abusing a glitch ( even thoguh buying items cheap I don't consider a "glitch" ). Tis had to happen SOME way but this way was not good at all! I mean nexon didn't even say a word about it, lol. |
