Is Global MapleStory dying?

Yeah, they are crap.
You can always make or use regular mesos to buy a great WG.
You can EASILY maker a shoe that can surpass 2 att in stats.

And you DO understand what I'm getting at, there's nothing to argue.
I've never REQUIRED myself to need any of this sh'it.

and @Khoi, Again, that ISN'T what I'm getting at, I won't be needing to use my RL money to get connections or get into a run.

Firstly, a Work Glove can never achieve what a SCG/BWG can. Shoe for Attack scrolls are so rare it's not practical to scroll them on anything besides Facestompers and Red Christmas Sock or whatever it's called.

Sure a maker has a potential to surpass a 2att shoe, but that is much more difficult than you say. But how about 3att all the way up to 10att+?

And let me just say, you can't get the connections you need to HT in Scania... with money or not. You just don't know who you are dealing with... although with HT "rules" slackening, it just might be possible for you... however slim the chances are.

Still, I'm curious. Please show us your progress in this game, or are you just talk? Have you even reached a level where HP Washing may be necessary? Do you have anything beyond a 10att glove, or believe that 10att glove is beyond godly? Let me see your EASILY Maker'd shoes that surpass 2 attack.

Agreed. A friend of mine, who is a Bishop, got from 1 - 150, took her and a friend ..years, literally. They shared the account. Did it without buying any NX at all. Not saying it's impossible, but it's like.. at least x10 harder. You have no access to:

-2x EXP/DROP cards whenever you want it
-Shop to sell items in
-Owl to look for items
-Gachapon, which means you have to manually look for scrolls that can be easily sold at for a hefty price
-Inventory-slots expansion
-Storage-slots expansion
-Safety Charm
-ETC

List goes on, and I'm just listing the things that are of significance, not crap like SMEGAs.

They're not godly, they're definitely above my standards, and of course a 10 att WG isn't godly, but it works PERFECTLY.

And Last I checked, any color WG counts as a WG, most may not achieve the standards, but they do the job dam well.

The one huge advantage that MS has over many P2P MMOs is that you are not required to spend a large amount of time to stay competitive. For me at least, I'd rather put some more money down in the maplestory CS to stay competitive then spend 4-5 hrs a day playing to stay competitive like in many P2P games. I just can't play games for that amount of time.

Without decent gear you can't do anything. Nobody will take you to any boss... in the gameplay beyond Level 120, equips do play a great role as leveling becomes inceasingly harder. In this time of Maple, competition and stats are getting more and more important. Without a desire to keep getting stronger or even being average, and pumping un-resetted AP into HP... you most certainly will fall behind only to be replaced by somebody of more use. Sounds terrible but that's the reality of lolMaple.

Everyone seems to think that the goal of this game is to fight HT or PB or Zak. Honestly they are boring. You think all those high leveled people are having fun bossing? Whether you have a 15atk WG or a 30atk WG, the time it takes to HT won't improve by INSANELY LARGE durations.

Gear is only noticeable for grinding, the difference between 1hko-ing and 2hko-ing mobs. Unless the whole group (using your logic Kevo/Khoi) has access to the MOST godly equips which again, I am pretty sure they aren't, wouldn't give two sh'ts whether you have a 10atk wg or a 20atk wg. And even then, it seems more like a chore than something fun to do. It reminds me of Felix doing Pap everyday. Somewhere along the line he got bored because it's a chore. Did his equips REALLY help? Even a 20atk bonus isn't much.

My bestfriend in real life plays World of Warcraft, and he feels obligated to play every day. He pays money for it, monthly, so yeah. But at least 15 dollars per month > 20k NX for double EXP per month? ROFL? This could be debated.

@Cynic: It's only a chore if you make it one. I played during last Summer, and the Summer before that, Zakking almost every week. I didn't do it every day though, fck no. If you don't want to boss, don't. Simple as that. People might whine, but so what. It's a game.

Eh? My equips are below average... but that's why I was bossing and merchanting to improve myself.

Everything in this game is kind of a chore. Training, bossing, are merchanting all require time. Remember that Zrun? It wasn't simple to plan and wasn't worth the effort for me.

I completely agree, and if you had semi-godly gear and you decided to not run everyday, they would obviously have to find a replacement correct? Not everyone in the same guild/alliance are going to go bossing every single day. Maybe this is just from personal experience, but I never had much trouble getting into boss runs (except for sometimes when people hold HT or Zak)

Yeah, when you start college or university, it's normally best to quit. I'm an average-student, and I play once in a while if I have spare time, but it no longer feels as an obligation as it was 2 years back when all I did was grind grind grind grind. Not to target certain people on SP, but some on Scania that I know probably 'did' spent a lot of money on NX just to grind 4-8 hours a day on double EXP every week. Can you even imagine how much money is being spent monthly doing that? That's just an example, but it's extremely time-consuming. That's how MMOs are. Play it if you have nothing better to do, it shouldn't be half or your life, or even 1/4 of it. But if you wish for it to be a huge part of your life, if you think it'll make you any better, so be it.

@Cynic: Depends. 1-2 years back, I was still ..around 12x-13x, and though my level was low for the guild's standards to Zakum (this was before I joined Faithful), they'd still want me because I was strong. That was it. If I didn't want to go, they'll try to find someone else. If they can't, they'll hop on their friend's Night Lord IF they have access to it. If not, they just whine about the fact that I didn't come. -shrug-

So long as the vast majority of players are under lv 70 and buying NX then this game wont die.

I dont think any of the "hacking epidemics" have really affected tiier main player base(the under lv 70s as I said) so as fas as Nexon are concerned things are rosy and profit is not affected.

Yeah, I vaguely remember maplestory before cash shop. And most of you know how LONG ago that was and how much more peaceful it was to play. I still remember the first day of cash shop and i saw this level 20 walking around with that pilot goggle thingy hat and I was like "Cool! I wonder how things are gonna change in maple now!" Well, here we are and its only gonna get WORSE. Of course Nexon wont shut down for at LEAST 3 more years. There are too many people playing this game for it to close down and yes, those people dont give half a pineapple about the hackings. This is life. Things always change. And in my opinion, as soon as I saw that big sign on mapleglobal.com all those years ago that Wizet was giving global to Nexon, I knew things wouldnt stay the same.

This has been my stance on pay-to-play games, but all of this bullpomegranate with Nexon has made me decide that the $15 dollars a month I would pay is worth every penny. Real customer service, GM interaction, balanced updates, decent and fair content that is available to EVERYONE. Yeah. pineapple Nexon. Especially since some months I was buying $50 in NX, which would buy me THREE MONTHS of AWESOME AND FAIR gameplay at any other game.

Will be migrating to Final Fantasy XIV when it's launched.

There are plenty of people who get along fine without purchasing NX. NX is not a requirement to enjoy this game. Those who cannot purchase NX directly can use the MTS.

This game will survive, GMS will just adjust to its new living standards. Free is free, and people will be attracted to free products.

Right there, IMO, is why this game won't die. You think "oh just spending some money for NX, not paying per month like WoW", and you actually end up spending more on NX than you would for playing WoW for the same duration.
