Character worth

And HP washing isn't even required to play a ranged class lol

400 resets jeez, play a different class if you don't even like it.

thats the only good thing i have. i still use a 4att pac from when they first came out and plain FS. that belt was a castoff of someone who also had an 11 and a 15 for herself and a circle of friends with more gear with xx w.att than i could dream of. so to me only having one decent item is avg when most of the attackers i know are super funded. im not sure what the norm is for these sorts of classes, but it takes my whole bank to buy a single item then to save up. pretty crappy when u try to keep up with the joneses n find out it takes bills upon bills upon bills and it never stops. itll break me again just to buy an 8attack cape i have my eyes on. i have to do a hundred basil trades to save up for it Tongue

if you read, its due to my 5 years of mage-ness. i solely played my IL for nearly 4 years then went to a corsair and realised how badly i suck. the HP was far too much pre-boat "fix" to a standard 90 second CD since it meant mine broke faster, however i needed that much HP to not die. mages are maple on easy and corsairs are definitely not a class to play when you are looking at the TV or movie like i was for my final 40 levels. its there only due to my severe suckiness at any range class. and the resets were all bought with MTS earned mesos so it wasnt a big deal, i was into her at first but lost my love of her for personal issues. just started on her again after a 6month break and its absolutely overwhelming at the costs for high DPS classes. im a cheapskate in maple and pretty much only merchant vast qtys of "junk" --quantity vs quality. so i posted just to empathise with a fellow mage lover. and am glad to see there are ppl like me who can still profess their love for the underdog class, but give in to community stereotypes n peer pressure to be a better attacker. long story short--im tired of being left out of bosses other than following around a sed mule at HT, so i continue with her. i dont consider her playing in any way. but when im with friends or i know i can finally boss n contribute, i think ill have a blast Smile again--the resets are due to my own suckiness. i see my friends with 1/2 the HP never die so it gets disheartening when u have so much more n die often.

You could be dealing all the damage in the world and be wanted by everyone all the time, but none of it matters if you're not having fun and enjoying your class. That's not to say damage and being wanted aren't contributing factors to enjoyment though because they certainly are for many people. Just remember that how much you enjoy playing your class is the most important. Also, most of your good friends should accept you regardless of your class, unless it's something that requires specific classes like ckpq.

This is kind of why hp washing that much doesn't really make sense to me, I'm pretty sure you could more than make up the damage you'd lose by leaving like half those hp points unwashed by instead turning the nx used on AP resets and other costs like int stuff into better equipment. If you're dead set on gaining the amount of hp you plan to hp wash, hp washing is basically equivalent to paying 3100nx for 1 stat plus the loss in mp.

for the first portion, this is very true up until recently. i always had a partner who relied on me for training/leeching him so my maple was basically nonstop training. from one onto another to another. now after a long break i come back to playing solo for the most part and its lonely seeing an entire guild have fun at bosses while i sit on the side as an lolmage. im trying to force my story to shift from grindstory to playstory and have a little fun joining in with group things on this.

as for the second part--until u just said this, the thought of a blood build did not even once cross my mind. im totally clueless on anything other than magestory and was always told u must HP wash and this is what u do n how u do it, so i followed blindly. i follow blindly on all recommendations for gear or SP as well.... you know come to think of it, sgtbawble was leveled with the max amount of AP saved until a sale came around, so he was essentially missing about 20 levels of stats at any given time...and i dont recall seeing much difference in his dmg pre-wash and post now that i think of it. i think ill follow your idea for my final 1000 HP and lower my expectations to a 10k base by 180 which should be doable without too much pain. its been so hard to get from a mage frame of mind into one of a corsair and hoenstly, i have only one person in my server to ask advice from and im sure hes sick of my noob questions! i should thank you for saving what little mesos i have left as im constantly saving up enough to convert to NX --like an endless cycle.

I remember when I picked my first job, third job didn't exist yet. I picked a fighter because I liked swords and pages sound...lame. Goggleemoticon I was fortunate enough to enjoy my selection once third and fourth job came out. It wouldn't really matter to me if I was useful in a party or not or if I bossed a lot or not, because I never even took that into consideration in the first place. When I train, I almost never party because that's how I am. I go bossing fairly regularly with friends or my guild, but they would take me regardless of job.

As for people playing higher-DPS classes for bosses, some people get enjoyment out of bossing, so they like to play those, etc. I have a friend whose first character is a bishop, but she wanted to be an attacker instead of support at bosses, so she made a night lord. She also tried a dawn warrior, but didn't enjoy it, so she stopped playing that and kept it for the 7 attack.

My bowmaster is blooded, and i liked playing it a lot since it was new and stuff. Then i fell asleep training at newties and was like. Nope not about to do this anymore- too little hp made me sad, but still it's a ton of fun to play regardless.

I can't seem to stick to one character either. which is why i have at least 1 second job of every class ever created. I switch around a lot (minus the mages- too hard to play for me DSmile, but right now it's my buccaneer that's all the rage. Hoping to keep it as my main after i get the ring from the Aran Tongue I play this one more often cause i don't only press 1 button anymore and it made me stay awake cause i'm not ohko'd anymore Smile

My first character was an Crossbowman in Scania and I enjoyed it very much until I went on hiatus. The next period in which I would play MS would be in Khaini as a Spearman. In that time period I also experimented with many other classes (Assassin, Cleric, Ice/Lightning Magician) I had another hiatus until Kradia came out and I made a Hunter. Currently have an Outlaw, Marauder, White Knight and Dawn Warrior and I can say for certain that I enjoy my Marauder and White Knight much more than any other character I have played in the past.

Outlaw is boring to me, just sniping Newties and going to recharge when I run out only to come back to and continue sniping. Was fun for 2nd job though albeit a bit underpowered.

I find Marauders fun because of their variety of moves and aptitude to mob.. There's a move for many situation and when there isn't I can just abuse Corkscrew. When I play them I get a level of concentration that I have yet to seen paralleled because I can be helpful(I try to pile as much monsters as possible to help my friends who can't mob as well).

I enjoy White Knight because ever since they came out, I always wanted to have one and I believe it to be my favorite class. I wanted one back then because elemental charges looked cool and I was finally able to make one recently. Their coolness leads me to question what people really value.

Dawn Warrior I got bored of really quickly. Soul Blade and Soul Driver were fun/cool the first few times but that got old quick. But that's fine as well since I originally wanted a Dawn Warrior to mule items (I thought they had the most slots out of all Cygnus classes) and to get Blessing .

I'm not really into this new "Aran" but I heard that there was an amazing ring released in MSEA. If that ring becomes obtainable in GMS and is transferable, I'd make one to get the ring and then delete him or my outlaw in order to make a bandit (there's something magical about numbers stacking and exploding money).

I enjoy playing "underpowered" and "sub-par" classes because it seems those classes have the most variety/fun because they don't really have to worry about bossing very much (unless it's with friends).

Reminds me of what happened yesterday: I went to apq. The leader was a lv 17x bishop. Other than me (lv 155 IL AM) everyone was low levelled. So she askes the lvl 100 (!!!) hermit if she could solo the boss -> W... T... F

On my bow master on the other hand, when I go to the dojo or newties they're practically fighting for me xD

It's not like my AM is worthless, I still do alot of stuff with him, but it feels like my BM is worth more than him now. I think most people are like "lolmages with their lolultimates. So easy to get to 15x." while being "wow BM, grats on 12x!" =^\ But that's just the general opinion so it shouldn't necessarely be your own. I still feel like my AM is my main and my BM is my mule lol xD As long as you have fun you shouldn't care. When aran come out I'm going to make a white knight. Big Grin

That shows how thoroughly the Maple community has been indoctrinated. When I built my Drk I spent weeks to weigh up the pros and cons of my blood-washing build. I always believed I made the right decision until the patch that improved Berserk threshold from 45% to 50%. That mere 5% HP cost me 24 str.. I wasn't sure whether to be happy or sad at that news. But I still have heaps of fun on my Drk despite the fact that 12x kids can outdmg me unzerked.

Lol, silly APQ noobs... I've done APQs with 4 7x-8x Magicians, my PA DK, and some Bandit (yes 2nd job) and the Geist is not difficult to take down. It just takes more than 3 minutes.

@sicnarf : i played a cleric when i first started maplestory, there was only third job(i played a few patches before omega sector, SEA). Played it because supporting people sounds like fun to me. I was only lucky that they made genesis a.k.a Last judgement for bishops.

Does auto HP not work? I mean really, if you want to wash to the point where you can tank 2 hits, you're doing it wrong. You only ever need to be able to take one hit. If you really can't pot yourself, auto HP should take care of it. I don't know why you'd want to be able to watch TV while training. That sounds incredibly boring, and you're definitely playing the wrong class. Why not make a Hero or NL or BM? It's not like Corsairs are any good if you can't manage the ship, anyway.

My gear is barely worth max and I'm still capable of training/bossing just fine. You don't have to keep up with the strongest players in the game.

My Paladin is still a 2hko at the last 2 oblivion maps if they get out their magic attacks >_> So much good the 8500 hp is doing me compared to someone with 5000.

True. I was going to make a BM and wash it...but I dont have any INT equips, I have 100AP saved at lv 50, I'm thinking about just blooding 50 like my MM and dumping the rest into dex and be done with it.

All the chars in my sig are pretty worthless and unwashed and weak. Yet I for the most part enjoy playing them.

I love my MM but the leveling speed is killing my motivation to keep playing it.Frown
