You could carry around a 2-3 stat cape to equip your weapon, switch your cape, and let the weapon fulfill its own requirement.
Or did that get fixed?

I'm pretty sure that the weapon isn't allowed to fill its own requirement.

Nice work, just one question.
Do diamonds get their grade when refined? Or is grading a totally different thing?
Simply, can i stock on a bunch of diamonds and later grade them?

By the looks of it, grading jewels uses the Maker window, which would make it separate from refining. But even if they're tied together, you could stock on ores and later grade and refine them.

here's how grading works:
You get 10 ores. You go to the NPC and make a refined gem, for our example let's use Diamond. So, you now have this refined Diamond. You use your Maker skill to open up the UI, then select Jewels from the leftmost dropdown list. You then move to the rightmost dropdown, and pick out your specific jewel, in this case Diamond.
You then pay 100,000 mesos and use the skill. It will run the little progress bar, and when it's finished, your jewel will be graded.

I for one, hope we never get this.
This is going to ruin maple story IMO. Turning it into such a diablo complicated type of item upgrade system.
GG.

You don't think people spending 10mil per stack of diamonds to try to get the good ones will help the economy at all? :p

Maker skill isn't as amazing for weapons as it is for equipment in my opinion.. Imagine if you were a NL making a level 80 Dark Pirate top and bottom..
An average Dark Pirate Top has 1 DEX and 5 LUK. Add on a high grade LUK crystal and a high grade DEX crystal and you've got a clean top with 6 DEX and 10 LUK. Add the same things onto a Dark Pirate Bottom (average of 1 DEX, 3 LUK) and you'll have 6 DEX 8 LUK clean pants. Total of 12 DEX and 18 LUK clean. Imagine scrolling those.
Also, I made a new overall with the skill today so I went ahead and recorded it because I think someone requested a video. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2BWXrF73JA
And here's a screenshot of the finished overall and the average version:
No clue how I got 1 def above average.. Didn't use a stimulator, lol.

Can you use graded diamonds for quests that require diamonds?

Hah. I'm sure a graded diamond would get you a lot more money when it comes out then the quest that needs it anyway.

You used mid range crystals when making, otherwise it would have added +5 to Dex and Luk, right?
How come you could only use 2 of the 4 slots? Oh and can you put in 4 of the same crystal ?

He can only use two slots because his alchemy skill is at level 2. I can only use one slot because My skill is only at level 1. Since the skill can only reach level 3 right now, the most crystals you can use are three.
No, sadly, you can apparently only use one of each type of jewel (One diamond, one STR crystal, etc.). That means one Diamond, regardless of grade. So you could use 1 Low grade, or 1 high grade, but that's the only diamond you can use. Not both.

Darn, an extra 20 dex on a clean equip would be great!
It's also a bit annoying that one can only make equips for your own class. The level limit hampers its usefulness too.
Anyone can scroll anything regardless of level or class with the Legendary Spirit Skill, why shouldnt we make anything regardless of level or class with the Alchemy Skill...

You should try plopping the materials for a level 50 equip, into the mystery forging option? Iunno, just an idea.
I imagine high grade crystals will be worth a LOT once this comes out, especially the diamond, garnet, stat crystals and etc.
And I just realized this gives somewhat of an edge for the normal non-statless people. Statless usually have to use common items, which can't be jeweled for extra stats. I mean, from jewels alone, you could potentially get +18 to your primary and secondary stat. If you factor in most people having a Zhelm and WG though, that drops to +12, and if you use an unjeweled weapon, +9. Still, pretty nice.
And the level/class requirements are good. Makes it so you can't just make whatever you want and sell it for a bunch of profit.

Ignore this
How can you tell if an item has been socketed with jewels? The Pirate overall looks the same, as far as I can tell, in both pictures, with the exception of the stats. If you're buying an equip from someone else, how would you be able to tell if you could still socket it or not?
Also, if you socket an equip when your Maker level is 1, do you gain the ability to further socket it when you upgrade your Maker skill?
Oops, misunderstood. So you forge clean equips that are upgraded. Well, that pretty much decimates the value of already scrolled equips, doesn't it? I foresee scroll prices rising drastically.

You can only add these stats to equips you forge, you can't take an equip you already have and put the jewels on it.

Now Jewels and etcs will have massive inflation and high lvl equips will have slight deflation(deflation? uninflation?). I sense an economy BOOOOM!
