Or they have to fraps it and have several GMs review the fraps and weigh in on what was happening. Either way, they're powerless and blameless.
As others have pointed out - 30 days means autoban got you.
It got me in ToT before I quit, just sitting in one of the empty maps between maps going through my inventory. Appeal refused, of course. That system is just jacked up.

Sure but for all we know the real GMs could get lazy and just go along with whatever the MWs say without checking the evidence, but make it a temp ban just in case.
I can't see anyone wanting to review hundreds of frap files every day, especially since Nexon begrudges every minute spent on customer service. If they can't be bothered actually reviewing the evidence against people who submit tickets claiming they are falsely banned, then the are not going to be bothered reviewing all the cases the volunteers submit.

I doubt they can report via fraps. With private servers now available, submitting a fraps video of evidence weighs as much as a screenshot. Both can be doctored with relative ease. I'm pretty sure a GM has to be present, looking with their own eyes before banning.

Continuing with my last remark. Despite how you view Nexon, I don't think they're dumb enough to just leave their watchers with that much trust. For that, why not just give them banning powers anyway? Might as well, if they're just going to ban anyone the watchers report without even investigating. The Maple Leaf Brigade is meant to aid the GMs, give them extra eyes. All they do is report what they see, it's up to a GM to investigate the issue.
While it's true they can't be bothered reviewing the cases of customers being falsely banned (blame the community for that, I'm sure that if little kids didn't constantly bring up "I R BANNED 4 NO RASIN!" tickets every second that Nexon would actually attempt to take a look at these cases), but that's when the banning is already done. There's a difference between investigating a ban that's already been processed and investigating a player to see if you should ban them.
With the first one, they were banned either because the automated system got them or a GM banned them. The first case is more than likely the reason they are submitting the ticket if they were actually banned unfairly. However, to the GMs, this says that you were banned for one reason or another, and they simply don't feel they have time to investigate every single case. I know this from experience with a certain server. When I was filing through tickets, it was a pain investigating every case. Granted, I wasn't paid for it, but the point is that even with a small server there were tons and tons of false claims. I agree they should spend more time dealing with these, but at the same time I can't blame them for not wanting to take the risk of loosing out on time (time = money) sorting through thousands of "I R BAN!" reports by little kids who think they can lie their asses off and get their hacked accounts back.
When it's an actual banning that requires a GM present, I'm sure they'd view the incident themselves before passing judgement. Whoever these Maple Watchers are, I doubt Nexon would trust them that much that they'd ban someone simply because the Watcher said that the person in question deserved to be banned for X reason.
Don't misunderstand my intentions. I'm not trying to be some Whitehorse for Nexon. I just believe that sometimes people make exaggerated claims from the assumption that Nexon is run by a bunch of greedy monkeys. They have to meet some kind of company standards, or they wouldn't have any customers.

Not "can"; "Have to". It's an actual requirement of the job. They're even given a copy of fraps to do it.
We're not talking about the general public here, we're talking about official MWLB members. If you had to include a fraps of every single report you made where would you find time to fake them, especially ones that include your MWLB character on the screen during the infraction with the person committing the crime (who can't see you)?
The entire purpose for them is to be the eyes for the real GM's. They're like red light cameras. Can't do anything but observe and report.

If they have screened the MW's so carefully, and hold a sword over their heads, they may trust them enough to issue temporary bans based on their word alone.
After all, they don't seem to care that their autoban system issues a lot of false temp bans. (Lots of people getting autobanned at typhons lately, all still getting the same standard automatic ticket reply).
Since you guys seem to have some inside information, please answer me this:
Is it true what some banned people say, that they were banned simply for being on the same map as a hacker, or are these just bs excuses?
If this is true, it is a rather nasty practice, even downright evil.

GM's have a history of banning people occupying the same map as hackers, particularly when the people are in some way benefiting from the hacker or could even be percieved as gaining benefit from the situation.
Two easy examples are looting from a hacker, and/or killing mobs a hacker is vaccing around the map.
The official stance on things like that is if you want to keep your account safe, find a different map/channel or risk going down with them.

Because that's what Maplers do. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Maplers blame the MWLB for being banned, for losing an item or money, for being hacked, for messing up something in-game, for causing a glitch in-game, for somehow disrupting something in-game...
I've pretty much seen Maplers blame the MWLB for everything one could think of. Sometimes it's because some people can't admit they did something wrong, gave out their info or something and caused the problem themselves, so they blame whatever they can think of (ie. GMs and now MWLB); but most of the time now, people just blame the MWLB because a lot of hacking, banning, and glitches have been occurring ever since they were actually announced to be doing stuff in-game, so people immediately assume it's all their fault.
Sorry that you got banned, man. Can't say much more than that. But I'm sure you can find something else to do while you wait for it to lift.
