Creationism vs Evolution

[I don't really get why religious people would have problems saying the process of evolution was created and put in motion by God. ]

That's because we take the Bible from a literal translational standpoint otherwise we feel that if the Bible can be interpreted in certain sections than the whole thing could be interpreted, even Jesus's death to save human beings. Yes it all seems silly to all of you.

Genesis states that man was made from the dirt of the earth and the breath from God. Woman was made from the rib of man and something else that I can't recall off the tip of my head. I stated this in my other post but I edited it because it was just a bunch of silliness and no one ended up reading it.

And I've just been the silly person this whole time.

So I'm going to go get wasted at a party tonight and try to get laid. If it doesn't work out, I'll just call for a prostitute.

It is assumed in an intelligent conversation, as this board denotes, that people will listen and respect another's opinion because that's what intelligent people do.

"Religion vs Science" debates are not exactly conversations of intellectual content, usually they result in flaming and "NO U" logic. It's circular. You can't convince a religions (wo)man that (s)he has been wrong all along, and you can't take a science-oriented (wo)man and do the same. It doesn't work that way... No amount of logic or "proof" will convince either side.

The fact remains that neither theory is easy to fundamentally test. While non-creation evolution (the stuff that says species adapt, change, etc over time) is apparent, it's very hard to do a research project on how a nonorganic material could spontaneously produce life. Similarily, you can't test Creationism (partially why it's rejected as a "Science" I guess).

These topics are so controversial because they simply have no end.

Creationism v Evolution is not a science/religion debate, it's regarding whether religion should be taught in public schools. While I agree that such a debate will usually set off a lot of flaming and circular logic, it actually DOES have relevance in public discourse because public schools are not supposed to teach religious content.

For all the creationists here:

If you still think god created the universe / solar system / life on earth, think again...
If god really created "our" sun, he was on a frickin failboat when he did!

He made our sun in a way that it will BURN the whole frickin earth we live on in 5 billion years! And if we're a bit unlucky with our calculations it will even explode into a supernova and shred the earth to pieces!

Nah, if God exists, and if he would really be wise/perfect/etc he would have done a better job then creating our shietty sun the way it is now, a frickin timebomb that will anihilate earth with everything on it, 5 billion years from now...

You can't prove that the sun will explode or vanish in 5 billion years. and, according to the quantum physics, there is a possibility that our sun will live forever. Maybe God makes that happen? :+)

Well since my old religion teacher (a catholic priest) thinks that evolutionism is the right one, I think that's enough convincing. Plus I'm Athiest, so creationism wouldn't work out for me...

I roughly agree with you, but try to think of what's best for everyone, not just you.

But this thread isn't so much about that...the OP did say the idea was brought up in school, but nobody has referenced any court trials, evidence, etc or whatever else for/against teaching Creationism/Evolution in schools. From what I've seen it's just your standard, "Which is right?" argument. :\
