Predicting: monster book

IsaacGS Wrote:I think that's fine when it's something like Bigfoot that's a danger to everyone, but as it stands now, we have Bandits using Dark Sight, Mages have Magic Guard, Warriors have the raw HP... It's just Gunslingers and archers who are left standing on the other side going, "Hey guys, what about me?" Just doesn't seem particularly fair that it's only a problem for one class.

But MS has always treated all the classes differently. There's so much that's "unfair" in MS that it's hard to even keep track. Who cares? I think by playing an Archer/Slinger, you should accept the added difficulty that comes with them. Why play the class if you're just going whine where it's harder?

Obviously I agree it should be the same level of difficulty for everyone, but almost nothing in MS treats all the classes as equals. Never gonna happen.

Oh, and I disagree with the Bigfoot statement. It's not a danger to everyone. Bigfoot is never a problem if you have the items from the quests. Unless BF is right on a portal, many classes have skills that help them avoid him (Teleport or Recoil, for example). Mounts help everyone avoid BF. Dark Sight also ensures Thieves never have to get hit by him too.

If he's on the portal, you're dead.

I'm pretty sure BF is faster than mounts, and if you get KB'd by a jr wraith or a tree, there's a good chance you're fucked.

Teleport is a gamble made in hell. I wouldn't chance it, and i don't know many mages with the balls to do it either.

Recoil isn't the best avoiding tactic. It's probably the worst actually. You have to aggro it if you use it, and he'll just chase after you probably killing you if you get held up enough.

But that is the easiest way to avoid BF: take Wraith damage then slip by.

Elder Wraiths/ Firebrand 2s are much tougher to dodge than BF, especially if there happen to be a group of them.

I made note of the "on the portal" thing. Nothing you can do about that, yeah, but it doesn't happen that often anyway.

You shouldn't ever have to run from Bigfoot for that long. Mounts help. If you're trying to race Bigfoot in the MS Grand Prix, yeah you're probably boned. And like randompeep mentioned, using Jr Wraiths/Tree is actually a good tactic to get past him if necessary.

I've done it with my I/L arch mage tons of times. Pfft, platypi. It also just helps for general "getting the hell away," like mounts.

Recoil could save your life if BF is chilling like inches from a portal and you have to get away quick.

Well guess what, youre right, and we're getting the MONSTER BOOK! Goggleemoticon

So, let's talk about books.

A good book is like a good snack, you can always have another. So, our next update, "New Features & New Creatures!", will have a very long, very robust book. But not just any book.

The Monster Book.

The Monster Book holds many secrets about the marvelous monsters of MapleStory--HP/MP, drops, the whole nine. Only the pages are blank. How do you fill out the pages? Easy, you hunt monsters and collect their drop cards. After you collect one, hit "B" on your keeyboard, and you can learn more information about that monster. If that weren't enough, there are also certain buffs associated with the areas and monster should you collect all monster card types.

And we're going to hold an event for those of you who are up to the challenge. Get ready!

So we have the Family System, More Master Monsters, and the Monster Book, but that's not all. We've revamped quite a few processes within the game, everything from quest progression, item inventory, maps, bugs, monster drops, placements, the tutortial, new mini-dungeons, nearly every part of the game is being adjusted or prepared for further content to come.

We've heard your feedback and are ready to throw down some of the biggest updates we have to offer. No stone left unturned, no area untouched. We'll reveal more as time approaches, but we're going to satisfy everyone, Level 1 - 200.

And we know what some of you are thinking: "There's no way! How will they satisfy everyone?"
Our answer: "You'll see."

So strap yourselves in and get ready for the ride!

Not for me. I don't try and avoid him by jumping in any random portal, i don't know the forest that well to just do that willy nilly.

If i find a BF and he's chasing after me, i try and jump in the portal i went in that forest to go through. Jr wraiths and trees just get in the way.

I love how they throw it in casually to see who even notices when it's one of the best things ever for higher levels in crowded servers.

If I'm even planning to enter Phantom Forest to go somewhere, I know where the pineapple I go before I enter it. The only difficult maps to reach are Phantom Road and maybe top of Crossroads 1 (enter top portal of Haunted Hill), and I already know where to go to reach them.

Really though, all the time I enter, it's the road to CWK, not exactly hard to remember.

Besides, doesn't your Marauder have Barrel anyways? You should be able to bypass Crimson Guardians into the Keep, so BF shouldn't be a problem. Hurt

I know the paths i want to take. Not the paths i'll take randomly if i jump in a random portal. My mine gets all jumbled up with the paths.

I have a mage too...

I.... I missed the part where it said new mini-dungeons.

Oh god... I'm so happy Glitter

This is shaping up to be an awesome patch. Monster book, mini-dungeons, area bosses, family system (meh), bug fixes, it's amazing. I can't wait for this to come out Biggrin

I'm a bit worried that it mentions this is simply for future updates, and not the April one. Still crossing my fingers anyways.

dont gunslingers have the barrel? or is that brawlers only

edit ontopic: yea i guess my theory works for updates in a month or 2 aswell, but then the connection with the new boss monsters is kinda gone

I seem to recall that they have stretched "the next Update" across a few patches before.

Anyhoo, some of these changes might get me playing again, I lost interest and hardly logged on the past few weeks...
