Predicting: monster book
#1
ok so nexon added a database of all monsters available in gms but also monsters from other version to their website. also the database tells you where to find the monsters.

to find monsters we always had to rely on sites like hidden street and sauna.gibbed but now all of a sudden nexon is trying to take over that service from 3rd party websites and start providing us with info theirselves..

Why? that doesnt make any sense? or does it?

i guess almost everybody around here knows what the monster book is, we all want it! for those who dont know, the monster book is an ingame book where you can store cards that represent the monster it dropped from. you can collect the cards and try to complete your book.. in order to find the cards you have to find the monster you need the card from and then hunt them to try to find your cards..

this is where i think the connection with the database on the website is made, nexon doesnt like 3rd part sites but with the monsterbook they would be supporting them cause people would be rely'ing on them for finding monsters.. releasing a database for finding monsters is their sollution and also a condition for releasing the monster book.

on top of that they will add new area bosses next patch which will drop the relatively harder cards to find since they dont spawn as fast as normal monsters.

in short: next patch will be about monsters and the new bosses, and hopefully the monster book we have all been waiting for! Chin

this is just a theory btw but i think the odds are pretty high Smile

p.s. its not really any proof but we allready have the monster book in our data and some monsters are allready dropping monster book cards by mistake :S

The odds aren't really high and people predicted this a couple of days ago but yeah, everybody needs to cross their fingers and pray to their respective gods.

Maybe... the problem is that last patch was big, and they'll probably give us a lame patch to release something ''good'' after.

I felt the same way but the GM blogs have proven that wrong. This is a 'big' patch. So big they need to string it out by telling us about it for 2 days so far, and more to come.

We already know we've got boss monsters and the godawful family system.

Monster Book fits the theme when you think about it though. It has a lot to do with relativity (colours of cards (what a stretch, haha)) and the boss monsters are part of the set.

All we can do is hope that when they put the next blog up in ~an hour we'll get what we all crave.

Science!

And I would love it if they released mini-dungeons as well so I can go back to training my mage :<

Nah, they're just trying to run off all their fan sites. Wouldn't want people to talk about your game outside the game, right?

Such blasphemous activity should result in a permanent ban.

You know it's really creepy I just turned in a ranting ticket on this subject to them last month. It'd be outright eerie if we didn't alll know they ignored feedback.

well this database thing has been coming along for months now, the NPCs have been up since July I think. They're just ridiculously slow. I mean, if Fiel could upload the whole thing in a few days, why the hell is it taking the people who originally created it 6+ months to even get half of it there?

Isn't saying this sort of like saying all American's should be able to build a ship since most of our ancestors arrived on one?

btw, thanks for fixing the email notifications. Biggrin

Well -Hime- made a point of explaining to us in this thread what the Nexon employees do, so maybe we shouldn't be so surprised.

GM Vector is Xtreme! He’s driven indy cars, snowboarded down some of the toughest courses (let’s not mention the time he almost lost his big toe to frost bite or the time he chipped his tooth on a soft taco).

GM Lallent hand-made santa hats for his figurines for the department Holiday Decoration Event. He won the most creative category.

She clearly forgot to mention that all of this goes on between 9 and 5 on a normal work day, but we all forget words when we're typing every now and then.

These people are paid to work on this data all day, they should be the ones who know it best. It really doesn't take so long to get it together, even changing it to a readable form.

Note that this library omits all important data about a monster except for level, though many are still missing their levels.

I know it does, I saw it.
And really the GMs themselves don't play in the data, nor do the web developers. I still think you're expecting too much from trained monkey positions. They should however be partnering with the people who know the data and getting info, but I'm not even sure there is anyone in Nexon America who really understands their data half as well some of the players.

This brings up the thought that Fiel might be hired in the future. Chin Just a thought. Poast
