Why wouldn't he extract the data? He's only disallowed to post it in public view.
And honestly, the only sure-fire way to see if the item exists in data is to look in the data file itself.
EDIT: I'm going with what Fiel said. I even checked for the GM 1-hand Sword Scroll just to make sure I'm not in some sort of illusion or w/e.
