Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire announced

I got home to see Serebii's post about it on Facebook, and I thought it was a joke at first but it isn't. I'm really happy my birthday is in November now Guess I'm gonna pick up pokemon again.

Also, I think we found out what this is for now. It'll probably unlock something if transferred to Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire.

It's certainly possible, but they honestly just look like they're powering up. Aside from the highlighted colours and better artwork, there isn't anything else remarkable.

There are quite a few big differences though.

Groudon: The spikes are bigger and a different colour, there are markings on its torso, the symbol on its arms are completely different, the pattern on the tail is completely different.
Kyogre: Different colours all over, the red is almost completely gone and replaced by blue, the big white blob above its eye is translucent and now has a line extending from it, the 4 wavy fins at the back now have a line on each, there is an entire pattern on its head that wasn't there before.

The changes are too big for just a power up. and both pokemon have been shown powering up in the games and anime before, and they never took on changes like they do here.

A lot of people are saying that there is not enough big changes for it to be a mega, but Kyogre and Groudon were already very detailed as they were. What do people expect? wings? an extra tail? What more could they add to these pokemon?

I can't wait for secret bases.

I would be satisfied with these designs being the mega designs but they just don't feel like mega evolutions for some reason to me :l

I don't think those are lines on kyogre's tail, just the background showing between the sections.

But anyway, I agree with Malthe. If these are the megas, then that's fine. They just don't feel impressive to me. I admit that I never liked the originals much so whatever happens to them doesn't affect me.

I was an Emerald dude for gen three a bit later than most but it did take me out of my Pokemon hiatus. I'm naturally excited for these and to see what they do with them.

I spent SOOOO many hours in Gen 3. Between Ruby version (almost maxed the cart out) and emerald version (BATTLE FRONTIER SO GOOD), I've spent a good part of my life playing those things. I literally got up earlier for school in order to play the games more.

I just really, really want battle frontier back. X & Y were great, but after the E4, there's pretty much nothing to do.

A visual upgrade at this point is pointless, and is pretty much exactly what a mega evolution is. They haven't given any other pokemon visual upgrades, so why would they change just these pokemon so drastically?

Pretty popular I guess. Jirachi needs a nice buff after the horrible nerfs it got in X and Y. (since Dark and Ghost became neutral to Steel, or whatever it was)

Did they make this trailer in a rush or something because they posted losses again?

Could at least have included some footage for a game that is supposedly only 6 months out from launching...

Hopefully it's not the only big game this christmas because I'm more into pokemon for the catch em all aspect, and no new pokemon (mega evos don't count!) puts a bit of a damper on the amount I care about the remakes.

The thing I'm most interested in is if they do include a coupon for a months worth of pokemon bank with the games, or something, otherwise I'm ready to declare that intergen trading is officially behind a paywall for any games to come, which would suck.
