I think it actually would be dumb for all of those cities to be in the game. It's supposed to he hundreds of years before the battle against the black mage (which was hundreds of years before the current time), Its already silly enough the job towns are called the same way the ones in MS 1.

So, exactly how often do you think the major cities of a world change names? :f6:
Cause, London, for example, has been there about 2000 years, as has Paris.
Boston's been Boston for nearly 400 years (1630).
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

I thought it was stated that these are different cities, though, they just happen to have the same names, like MS2 Henesys isn't MS Henesys in the distant past.

If that's the case it makes more sense, but it was definitely phrased oddly.

The job towns in MS2 are not the ones in Victoria. The ones in Victoria must have been named the same way, as some kind of tribute to the towns that dissappeared during the war against the Black Mage. In any case my point was that cities like sleepywood or lith harbor shouldn't be in this MS. Whats the point of setting this world at leasT 500 years before the current MS' time if you're just gona reuse the same geography?

Here, I guess, though, somewhat ambiguously?
Quote:The people from the past called the world they lived in, Maple World. They also lived in places all around called 'Henesys', 'Ellinia', 'Perion', and 'Kerning City'.
Although this past has been completely forgotten, the town names are still used today.
It doesn't exactly say that the towns aren't the same, but the implication is heavy.
Part of it is probably just speculation based on how most of Victoria Island was unsettled, as far as we know, after the battle with the Black Mage (the towns didn't exist there), and MS2 is supposed to take place before that.

Uh. That's still a ridiculous question.
The point of being in a different time is to be in a different time, not a different geography.
TESO is hundreds of years before the other Elder Scrolls games but it's still the same geography. The difference is what's happening at the time and who is involved and what they're capable of. Place is place. Unless the maple world had some massive catacylsm that reshaped all the geography the time, especially less than a thousand years, certainly wouldn't change that much.

I totally forgot about that, so I'm even more confident that MS2 takes place in Victoria island after the Black Mage since iirc Ellinia is named after Ellin Forest that is named after a fairy that lived there.

speaking of, anyone have the -old- world map? if i remember right the black mage yadda yadda changed the maplestory map to what we currently have, been so long since i've seen the old one i've forgotten it, but if anything maple2 should be based on that map due to what eos said.

That might be problem, cause, uh, no, not colloquially.
Urban Geography is a relatively specific term with such meaning, but its a subset of a subset and not something most people associate with the term, but geography in and of itself is synonymous with topography.
