Just captured Mewtwo & Zygarde (Who is now my favourite Pokemon, dat Zlug!) without using my Masterball. Now onto the birds once I work out how to capture them.

Hmm, I'm highly considering buying Pokemon Y when I beat X, and using my own set of pokemon (that you can't get early of course) and NO exp share. Exp share is great but I like a little bit of challenge in my games...and this game is so awesome that I should be able to justify getting Y :p

Aside from the pokemon selection, are there any story/text and aesthetic differences?

Decided to have a go at Battle Maison with my new team. I got swept by a Pidgey about 12 battles in.

To be fair, the damn thing was super fast and hit like a Hydreigon. and it spammed Fly EVERY TURN and I had absolutely no counter to that move whatsoever, every single attack I used missed while the damn thing nearly one-shotted all my pokemon.

As far as the AI goes it usually doesn't use tactics as cheap as that, I'm a bit disappointed.

Also in my defense, my team consisted of 3 level 40 pokemon going up against level 50 Maison pokemon. So i'm happy I got so far with my team not finished yet.

I almost hot destroyed by a double teaming oddish until I sent out doublade. ps no guard allows you to hit flying pokemon
