Congalala better fling dung at you or I'll be disappoint. Super excited for 4 already! My favorite so far is the giant ice shark monster.

Whoops. Fixed.

Ugh, I take more damage during Rathion/Rathalos fights from them walking into me than I do any of their legitimate attacks and it pisses me off. I get hit from them walking into me not only more often but for whatever reason THAT does 2x more damage than an actual attack from it. BS. Should be switched around. Worse than swimming with the goddamn Ceadeus and its stupid fins cause at least those don't really hurt you.

At least Rathalos' tail moving around doesn't hurt you anymore.

In Freedom Unite, it was quite literally possible to die from a single GS charge while being near Rathalos' tail when he taunts. It did damage your character didn't react to, but like 20 points at a time and would hit you 5+ times in a row during a single taunt. I've watched people die from full health during a Rathalos taunt in FU.

I don't know how bad his touch damage is anymore, though. I only Bow Rathalos since his revamp, because he's such a whore with flying and it's annoying, I don't have to deal with it at all with Bow.

It's 2x more powerful than getting hit by some of his main attacks from what I've noticed in High Rank. I've DIED from him nudging me with his kneecaps already.

Also, any suggestions for Cha-Cha/Kayamba setups? I'm wondering if I should make both of them highly aggressive or 1 aggro/1 passive, and which masks/abilities to use.

That's pretty nuts. Still a lot better than it used to be, even though I know that doesn't help you here.

I gave Kayamba the Mock Melynx mask when I unlocked it, because he was pretty aggressive melee-wise and can steal items with that mask. As for Cha-Cha...I would give him something passive because he seemed to be a terrible fighter.

The Shakalakas on their own have pretty much the same AI and stats. It's all based on what mask you have equipped and mastery on said mask.

If you're wanting attack, the Rathalos Mask is a solid choice. If you want actual damage, however, get the False Felyne mask and level it up to Lv5 Mastery. Doing so unlocks an ability slot and so you can give him the skill Bombardier. Congratulations, you now have a Shakalaka throwing LBB+ at monsters like candy at fat children on Halloween.

Another great combination I've found is the Artillery Mask, obtained by doing a villager request after hunting Jhen Mohran in Village High Rank, and the Ultimate Mask obtained after beating Ivory Lagiacrus at the end of Village High Rank.
The Ultimate Mask prevents the Shakalaka wearing it from taking damage, and when the Shakalaka enters rage mode, his health continually drains until it's depleted. In this state, his attack is raised considerably.
The Artillery Mask allows you to fire the Shakalaka not wearing the mask for high damage of all types (If the Shakalaka hits the monster, it will do both cutting and impact damage; I've both cut tails and broken off Barroth's crest with this attack).
My usual strategy is just to wait until the Ultimate Mask user is in rage mode. Then when he's close to death, I fire him at the monster to make use of the attack boost. It usually works pretty well since the Ultimate Mask has relatively decent recovery time.

How the flying fucking horse plantain are you expected to beat the 7* Jhen Mohran quest? Tongue

This pomegranate is pissing me off to no end. Nothing I do works. I have no possible way of DPSing it enough to repel it. I've seen videos and do everything I can yet I'm never even able to break both fins, or both arms, etc. I see a video where somebody just breaks every single thing like lol.... I'm guaranteed to lose once the final showdown segment starts. There is literally no way for me to pump out enough DPS at that point. Trying to attack its feet is the most pointless pomegranate possible and no matter what it always feels like my quest doesn't give me anywhere near enough time as these other people.

And I thought the Ceadeus quest was a piece of pomegranate -- this is the worst fucking thing in the entire game.

You'll lose your pomegranate when you take on Goldbeard, Deviljho, Brachydios or Altraeon. First of all, don't focus on his feet, jump on top of him and attack his fins. Don't just rely on your weapons alone, use your Cannons, Ballista and Gong when the need arises. They will help you. DPS is not as important. Plus, what weapons or armor are you using?

I use everything that's given to me. Every single Ballista shot and cannonball (Yes, even the shots from the blue chest as well as the binding), the gong and dragonator... everything. I bomb him with Anti-Dragon Bombs and everything else I can do. The reason I eventually just go after his feet is because at some point that's all I have left.

It ends in one of two ways: I either run out of time meaning not enough damage was done, or he just flat-out destroys the ship. I tried using my Uragaan L/R set since that has bombardier, with a Vodyanoy Hammer (676 ATT / 150 WA)

I've just given up for now and I'm doing other quests in the meantime to try and get better gear. Thank god Jhen isn't required.

I used a full Brachydios armor with DBs Iirc the first time I killed him. I just wanted to kill him ASAP, he is really boring.

Honestly, unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing, you're probably not going to beat that solo Jhen when he is unlocked. His gear isn't really worth the frustration either, at least in my opinion, and he's not required. I would say just skip him until you're further along in the game.

To beat him, you really have to do everything perfectly. Any time he's about to body slam the boat, you have to hit the Hunting Gong to essentially KO him for about 30-45 seconds. If you're in the final stage you can go inside of his mouth and attack it, as it is his weakest spot. You must use the Ballista Binder to prevent all other types of damage, like when he tries to stab the ship with his tusks. You need to perfectly time the Dragonator so that he doesn't hit the ship but it still hits him when he does that frontal assault.

A good thing to remember is that there are several skills that will assist your damage from the Ballista shots and Cannon shots. Namely Felyne Bombadier (or whatever the name is, slow Internet so I can't look it up atm), and the same for the regular armor skill. Those significantly increase the damage you do, especially with Cannon shots. Also remember that both Ballista and Cannon shots refresh when you switch stages. I suggest using the Anti-Dragon Bombs on his tusks, as they do static damage (so it doesn't matter where you place them) and the tusks are the hardest to break. I would only attack the legs when you run out of everything if you're having trouble beating him. Also, don't forget that he's weak to Ice and Dragon. Bringing an Ice, Dragon or Slime weapon is key. They will help you break his fins.

Jhen is just like Lao, Shen and Ceadeus. They're all boring as pomegranate, and also tanks. Skip him if you can't beat him for now.

Stygian Zinogre was one of the funnest battles I've had in a while. I wanted his armor...but it needs one of each of those damn skymeralds :|

le sigh.

Ah, it's been awhile since I played this game last. Got sucked up into some other games and busy with life. Last I left off, me and my friend had just got to LV7 Guild Quests. With that in mind and as you can see what we have access to, anyone have any recommendations on a good G-Rank armor (or armor combination) set that benefits my weapon (Dual Blades)?

Currently I'm using a full set of High Rank Ivory Lagi armor, should I just stick with it until we get further or can I make myself something good based on what I can get currently?

My friend also asked me to ask basically the same thing, except for Longswords. Any help would be very appreciated!

Hi. Don't come to SP much no mo, but I still play MonHan.

Last I checked, I made a kickass GS set, a half-decent HBG set, and a still-in-progress DS set. Fleshing out the weapon selection on the latter two so I can swap pomegranate out at a moments notice.
Trying to solo Lucent Narga with a GS is suffering, but I shall do it. My pride demands it.

Looks so good... too bad there have been absolutely NO announcements on whether it's coming to the US or not.

OH GOD WHY KIRIN! WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM? Kirin is the worst monster ever.

There never are. Don't expect any announcements until it gets released in Japan, which isn't until next month, at the very earliest.

It would be smart to release a localized version before Christmas in the US, because they're always complaining about sales and that's the best selling season for anything. It's not like there's voiceovers or anything anyway, I see absolutely no reason for it to take them more than a couple of months to release it outside of Japan. It always takes them at least 6 months though, it sucks.

To be fair I'd honestly say releasing during the holidays would hurt sales more than anything. People would be too busy spending on titles/consoles they're already familiar with.

I know at least in my area, people go into spending frenzies during the Holiday Season and just buy everything they even look at. Then later they complain that they spent too much money.
