The End of MapleStory

Nexon does have other games that it can work on besides Maplestory, although Combat Arms needs a lot of work.

CA is beyond help. You have to pay NX for all but three characters, for a lot of decent guns, and the power to kick people from your room. <_<

I love playing it, but there's too much NX.

Not to even start on Mabinogi.

A better question would be what would happen to other MMORPGs if Maple would end? We all know that Maple will end by Nexon pulling the plug for some random reason, but if they do, do they also pull the plug for other games?

Example: LaTale, another 2d MMO, very Maple like in many ways. From the release of this game(couple of months ago)(global version) noobs from Maple have started playing it, causing the same problems as they do here. If Maple dies, loads of noobs will move to LaTale, and I'm not sure if a game with so much issues already(insane lag, KS wars, weird economy, and more stuff like this, though the game itself is quite balanced) can take a hit from a noob wave like that...

So I hope Maple won't die right after I quit(or Maple dieing causing me to quit), so some of the games I'll play then won't get killed by the noob army.

But what about NLC?
If NexonAmerica can create a town,mobs,and everything else, how would that end maplestory? Sure,slow it down, but not end it.

Hacking Era 2 (because the one that happened 2 years ago wasn't enough) will go into full force and everyone will quit out of frusteration.
Or what happened in MSEA, when everyones accounts started to get hacked (including a GMs!)

DDoS botnet with a nice server wiping in the middle. All character and account data destroyed? Goodbye Maplestory. Though I'm probably being pretty imaginative here.


EDIT: Come to think of it they should, should, have a backup offline somewhere. Nevermind.

^ Why waste such a botnet? Most botnets now are rented out / sold for money to the highest bidder, so I would imagine that such a botnet would be employed to hack a large number of accounts (maybe 10%) to sell. Wiping benefits no one, except the makers of other MMORPGs. But I doubt these companies would be shady enough to do something like this. I don't think a wipe by a third party is going to be the finishing blow for Maple.

A GM's account got hacked once in beta. GMs actually had classes back in the day. Was a super GM, job was a bandit though.

Nexon makes some of the greatest games I've ever played. Not to mention they are free.

They deserve the right to charge you the way they do.
