It's not really that great of a system anyway, all it is is sending people you have guild cards for on quests and they bring back materials. It's not like they go on quests with you.
Yeah, I'm on 3DS. I know what it is and all, but I just want that Aelucanth armor and Hunters For Hire is the only way to get those Blossom Crickets/Butterfly Beetles.

Is it really? That's interesting, I didn't know that.

I bought my game today but I'm also moving to my new house today and I still don't have an internet connection there... I hope I didn't get a cursed charm table.

12 Azure Rathaloses later...I got a Ruby.
I'm so bored of this monster. With over 800 kills in Frontier, a large number I can't even remember in Freedom Unite as well as P3rd, and now having to spam him for plates and rubies here...ugh...
And I still need two more rubies in the future for Tenderizer Jewels...Not looking forward to that at all.

Any tips on repelling Ceadeus? I got a Lagia Sword, but have enough to make a Lagia Horn. Should I use the horn or use my DBs, they're ice element but has the same attack as the sword.

If I remember correctly, Ceadeus is weak to Lightning, so you're better off using Lagia stuff if you can.
You should attack the Beard when he's in the first two areas. When it breaks he'll rush into the last area. If you don't do enough damage before he reaches the last area you will fail, so the best idea is to break the beard asap. In the last area there's two Ballista you can use with ammo you can gather from near each one. Use them to your advantage, and try to use the Dragonator in the area to break his horn.
Once everything is used up just attack. If you do enough damage he'll run away. I believe in the story based quest you can't let time run out, but in any future runs if time runs out and you do the quest again he'll start near the HP you left him at when he ran away the last time. The story Ceadeus is separate from the regular ones you'll do in the future though.

I noticed, I failed on many occasions. If I killed more Lagis, I could make a lagi DB, seeing I'll need speed. I've also been using Barrel Bombs and my sword to no avail.
Also, aren't ballistas bullets?

Ballista Bullets use the same icon as regular bullets however they are bullets for terrain objects you can interact with to shoot them. They're usually only on the maps with the large monsters, like Ceadeus and Jhen Mohran.
As for failing: I used the Insecticutters+, a Dragon Element Dual Blades. They're something like 186 Raw and 100ish Dragon with Green Sharpness. I didn't have an issue getting him into the area. I only attacked his beard and had him rushing to area 3 by about half way through the second area.

How'd you get Insecticutters?

I believe the Dual Hatchets branch off into them. Needs a lot of bug materials.

Finally killed my first Deviljho of 3 Ultimate. Showed up during an Azure Rathalos hunt, was already using Exlagia Gunlance so I just went after it.
Killed it and then Azure Los with about 2 and a half minutes left
So much adrenaline pumping during that, I swear.

I've successfully kicked Ceadeus's horned ass, after so many attempts. Thanks again, Polantaris*

No problem at all, glad to be of assistance!
Just curious, what's with the star after my name? Feels like one of those footnotes attached to me .-. (lol If it's just a typo).
Edit: Goldbeard Ceadeus is retarded.

I actually expected more of a challenge from him, considering he's the first G-Rank monster you fight and fully unlocks G-Rank in general. The only thing that got annoying was his constant spamming of his super-duper large water laser beam.

I definitely don't find him challenging either, I just find him very badly designed.
He's not cheap or unfair in the ways that I find underwater Lagia cheap or unfair, but instead in ways that are just dumb. For example, if you're in melee range just about every attack will hit you, regardless of how many times you dodge in advance. Half of this is because of bad dodging mechanics, if there's invulnerability underwater while dodging it can't possibly be at the same time or the same length as a dodge on the ground. This makes his stupid beam attack significantly more dangerous than it should be. When it sweeps, you should be able to perfect dodge it, but I was never able to, even with Evade+1.
Not only that, his beam in general has such a bad hitbox that it puts Pre-3U Plesioth to shame. I've been hit when it went completely over me by far, completely under me by far, and I even got hit once or twice when it wasn't even visible on the screen at all.
Overall Goldbeard Ceadeus requires too much healing because it's far too easy to get hit, because he's too massive and his attacks are far too large. Plus his turning damage is way too high. At 400 Def and over 20 Dragon Res and 3 Water Res when he turned and his horn tapped me it would do over 50 damage. That's absolutely ridiculous.
Honestly I've never been impressed or liked any of the giant monsters in Monster Hunter. Ceadeus and Jhen Mohran are definitely improvements over Shen Gohran and Lao Shan, but that's really not saying much. All four of them are very boring monsters that are not entertaining at all and are often required for gear a lot too, so you're forced to grudge through them.
I think beyond everything else, the worst part about Goldbeard Ceadeus is that his armor is the first set in the entire game to give Sharpness+1.

Don't remind me, I'm actually trying to make the entire set, but naturally I'm having a helluva time trying to get Dark Dragongems. Not to mention I am still also missing 2 Dragon Elderbloods. I know they come from Jhen, but I hate Jhen so much, so I googled it and read around and it was said that Ceadeus also gives them, but I haven't had any luck from him either. Still trying though.
And yeah, I completely agree on the hitboxes of the water lasers. I did rage a few times when I was so clearly no where near the laser as seen right on my screen, but I would still end up getting hurt.
Not to mention doing it solo farming him for the parts I need to finish his armor is sooooooo tedious. I can down the regular Ceadeus in about 15-20 minutes, but he still takes me 30 minutes or more.
