The Official Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Topic

Just got this game yesterday. I'm a newbie, but my friend is a veteran and helped introduce me to many of the game mechanics. I enjoy using the light bowgun (he was using a longsword), but I need to try out other weapons too. I'm thinking the great sword or switch axe.

Isn't a 4th game coming out?

Yeah, that was a Monster Hunter 4 video. But it was never confirmed for the states and don't expect it to be for a while if ever. It all depends on sales, and even then it will take over a year after the JP release if previous trends are anything to go off of.

I wouldn't stay downed...neither was MH3U originally. It too was 3DS exclusive at first, and then they made an "HD Version" that was on Wii U later. That will probably happen with MH4 as well, since people eat up all forms of MH in Japan.

The chat filter is the dumbest pomegranate ever in this game's online. I'm not even talking about the fact that you get censored by words like fart. No, I'm talking about the fact that you have a 30 character limit, yet can only send 3-4 messages in a row before the game blocks you and refuses to let you send more messages for over a minute. What the hell were they thinking? That's absolutely ridiculous. What if I was giving info to my team? I can't say anything to them anymore? So freaking stupid.

I'm trying to explain to Link how charms work, and after 15 seconds of typing I'm blocked from saying anything else. Then I get it back, and I say a few more things and WHOOPS, blocked again! What the fu'ck.

On a related note...I just did him in High Rank for the first time solo. Broke everything before 10 minutes, killed in 19. I was extremely surprised to see him go down easy.

I don't understand why Azure Rathalos and Pink Rathian are in this game, at all.

All they did was take either Gold/Silver or Green/Red and add a move or two, and call them a new monster. It's stupid. It's the same exact thing they "rebooted" the series over.

When you first fight Silver Rathalos you'll see how similar they are. Practically the only difference is the flaming bite Azure can do while flying, and possibly the ability to claw you after one of those low soars, but I forget if Silver had that ability too. Other than that they're the same monster.

Zinogre isn't hard, but he's really fun to fight. He's one of my favorite monsters since Tri.

Finally made Abyssal Fisher. Time to farm me some Brachydios.

Alright, I am pineappleing convinced I am going to die tomorrow. A 3% chance and a 2% chance happening in succession? Holy pomegranate, I am going to die via exploding bus while crashing into a lightning bolt.

Just wrapped up killing Ceadeus and Jhen Mohran (only took me two tries!) and thus completed every single Village quest, unlocking Mark of a Hero. Kinda stupid that you unlock a G-Rank quest but you can't actually unlock G-Rank unless you complete all the ONLINE quests, not Village quests. So dumb.

Got my HR Ivory Lagi armor completed, gemmed for ATK Up L and Evasion +1, and one gem to take away the negative skill. Also finally got an assortment of different elemental Dual Swords, upgraded as much as they can be at the moment (now they require G-Rank materials, which is out of my hands ATM). I have no idea what G-Rank armor I'll aim for, since it's hard to get a set with multiple skills that benefit the Dual Swords, but I'll figure it out eventually.

Also, heads up for everyone, they've added some new DLC quests, one that gets you materials to make a new Switchaxe, one to make a new Longsword, and a Wyvern Egg quest that gets you materials to make a brand new mask for Cha Cha and Kayamba.

They've done that with every game that's had G-Rank. It's essentially the ultimate challenge quest, because you can only do it solo and there's usually dual monsters in the arena. It's supposed to be a test of how good of a hunter you are, intended to be done when you've finished everything else.

In P3rd I believe it was Black Tigrex, Green Narga and Jho, where the Tigrex and Narga were at the same time and Jho replaces the first you kill. It's rather difficult, and its intended to be so.

It's your friend. You're never going to make a good single monster piece set because they did a good job on adding crap to every set...so an armor set generator is practically necessary.

Even with it though I've been having issues finding a good Bow set that I want to make. There's too many useless skills now...

Wow they changed Rathalos a bunch from the PSP games. Which surprised me, because they didn't overhaul Rathian to the same degree. Also, are Azure Rath and Tigrex available through village quests in this game?

I guess that's what I didn't quite like about Tri when I first got it for the Wii; the new monsters weren't as cool as the older ones (IMO of course). Dang, will miss Tigrex.
