Normalizing data to 100% using excel
#1
Gah, I don't even know if this qualifies as intelligent conversation but I need help.

Honestly, I have no idea how to normalize a data set I have on excel. The sums of the components gives me a total of 97.3%, but I need all of the values to scale to 100% (or so I believe it's what is asking me to do).

I've been reading about this on google but nothing can get through to me. -_-;

The simpler the better. I just can't get along with excel and its shenanigans.

Divide all the values by .973?

Mountlag got it.

All you really want to do is make them add up to 100%? Then multiply all the values by 100/97.3.

Then they will have to add up to (roughly) 100%

I did not explain the problem clearly. My problem was that I didn't know how to perform the operation in excel (I barely know how to use the program). Someone taught me tho, after I went through the data set manually. -_-;

Thanks for taking the time to reply though.
