Why is my phantom so flippin' weak?

Seriously, title. I don't have the best LUK gear, but jesus, my phantom is 160. My dual blade is lvl 145 and does double, literally, double my phantom's damage.

Am I doing it wrong? Im rocking haste, Mental Clarity, Holy Symbol(if needed, or Combo if not), and maxed SE for my steal skills. Do I need to steal a good attack skill for 4th job? All my skills are maxed(except for tempest and Penombre). Right now im using Mille Aiguilles as my main attacking skill.

So what am I doing wrong guys? This feels terrible, I loved playing my phantom a long time ago, but this is depressing

Also, what nerfs does "duration and attack reduction may be applied" mean? What specific numbers?

ive heard of these nerfs, but were they really that bad? does anyone have the exact nerf patch notes? i might be able to find it if i knew which patch it was

Judgement (beginner): Fortune Card’s effect has been increased from 5% critical chance to 10% (upgraded Fortune Card’s effect has been increased from 10% critical chance to 20%)
Talent of Phantom Thief I/II/III/IV: there is now a 30 second cooldown in between changing skills
Blanc Carte (2nd): damage has been decreased from 160% to 140%
Acute Sense (3rd): critical chance boost has been decreased from 50% to 30%
Coat of Arms (3rd): damage has been decreased from 225% to 200%
Soul Steal (4th): cooldown has been increased from 60 to 120 seconds
Pray of Aria (4th): damage boost has been decreased from 30% to 20%
Tempest of Card (4th): cooldown has been increased from 12 seconds to 18 seconds
Ultimate Drive (4th): damage has been decreased from 130% to 120%
Twilight (4th): damage has been decreased from 600% to 450%
Noir Carte (4th): damage has been decreased from 220% to 200%

I suppose this captain nerf was aimed directly at phantom?

the captain nerf seems a little overboard....

Well Sairs weren't really nerfed, because their FA (100% chance) got buffed by 30% damage instead. It was primarily to weaken Phantoms.

If I recall correctly; one, if not the worst thing that came with nerf was the reduced damage from attack skills from other classes, where you become unable to do the same damage using the skill as the class that originally has it, but something like 2/3 of the original amount, the same also applies to duration on active skills.

After the nerf, cane's attack multiplyer is not applied to stolen attacks, which caused stolen attacks to do a lot less damage than before.

Also, are Phantoms actually gonna get a rebuff at some point soon? I hate it when they have to HS every 90 seconds don't you ?

A captain and a Corsair are the same thing, just like a Viper and a Buccaneer are. Different versions have different job names. Well basically everyone has the same job names and GMS just changes them willy nilly.

If Buccs got buffed, eventually Phantoms will get buffed again.

If it helps, the nerfs didn't bother me at all. I preferred Aiguilles over RF anyway, and effectiveness stayed 100% for buffs, so I just got SE.
In any case, I mained it because I love the class, not the numbers it s'hits out.

I don't think it's going to matter to me soon enough, but man, buff duration is already a bit of an annoyance to me at this point.
